Looks like a nice day so Mrs Punkin and I are getting ready to go to a big ham shoot. Hopefully I can win a 17-18 lb ham. Way too big for just the two of us so I usually just give it to my sister since she invites us over for the holidays...

So what do you use to shoot a ham??

Bamrz - We use a 12 gauge so they can't get away.
Did I mention BACON...

Hoping it warms up a little more this afternoon. Need to patch the run roof. One of the chickens was out when I got home yesterday. The girls payed them no mind.

What is the best way to make crispy bacon without the mess?

Sonny does his in the oven and says it makes less mess. I still do mine on the big griddle.

I used to make it in the microwave, back when I had the REALLY big one! I had a tray that kept it out of the grease, and was tilted so it drained. Covered with a paper towel, it was perfect! Now I just do it in the cast iron.

I do it in the oven. Usually 2-3 lbs then store in the frige or freeze it.
