So, Mr. D. was evaluated this morning by Pt and Ot. He was happy they finally got him up and walking a little. They had him stand by the sink and brush his teeth and stand without holding on to the walker and move stuff around his tray. It did wear him out though. Soo fingers toes and everything crossable he gets to go to a real rehabilitation center and not one in a nursing home. They did tell him he did good. Will just have to wait and see what they decide.

They started working with the insurance co. they really would like him to get into their rehabilitation program. Still hoping for the best. Doubt much will happen till after Easter. Would be nice to know so I know what all I need to supply, besides his cloths.

Not the news I was hoping for Highmark denied IRF care. But approved Nursing home Rehab. So they gave me a list of 3 that will take Mr. D. and acted like I needed to pick one instantly. Ah nooo first off, I need to know more about them second the list she gave me had their ratings on and they were like 1 star. Now I wish we had regular Medicare he would be going to the one we wanted tomorrow. There were quite a few on her list that didn't get back to her yet. Soo I'm going to make her wait to see if she gets more call backs. I also know that on the 6th Mr. D. was approved for 10 more days in the hospital. Highmark called me on the 6th and told me that. I feel the hospital can spare a few days to come up with a better facility. Sorry my rant for today.

Drott,
When we signed up for Medicare we went with regular and added a supplemental policy (GAP) and Part D (prescriptions) to cover the rest. The advantage plans are marketed as being cheaper but we wanted the choice of going where ever we want as long as they except Medicare. We sure hope Mr D. comes home soon. Hope you enjoy Easter tomorrow!
