Happy that she is learning all of this, once she's home you'll need to keep taking her places so she doesn't forget her training.
Yes and one of the first places she has to go is the vets. Her 1 year physical is coming do.But I'll put it off as long as I can. don't want torcher to be her first memory home.

Take her some fun places first, like to get a baby ice cream cone. To a park. Then the vet. Then another ice cream cone. We did that with all of our dogs, they were happy to jump in the truck because most trips were fun. They kind of forget the creepy ones if enough fun stuff is in there.

We had two that LOVED going to the vet. First was Elwood, he got so excited to see the gals. They would yell "Elwood!!!!" and do the wave. He would pee. They still did it every time they saw him, then grabbed the mop. Victor loved the vet too, as soon as the vet or a tech would crouch down to see him closer he would spin around and sit on their laps. Jake on the other hand, he went in there with an attitude and a glare. He never did anything, but he moaned like he was dying the entire time.

Here is a link to how to use the snoot loop. Please familiarize yourself with how to put it on, as well as the safety line.

How is Gertie coming along

Well, she mauled me again today when the trash truck went by. She has learned that if she acts out- thrashes around, snaps, pulls, etc. she will get to leave the uncomfortable situation. Now, I do not allow her to leave until she is calmer and we can safely walk away. It is slow progress, but we have to be patient with her. We need to continue to confront her fears head on and show her that we won’t let anything bad happen to her or us.

This will be something to continue practicing as she goes home. When strangers come to visit, ask them to toss high value treats into her crate. Having them avoid eye contact, and minimal interaction is best. It will build upon the association of people aren’t a threat, they give good things (treats) and generally leave her alone and respect her space.

Ok have you been able to work on recall and staying in place?

The main focus is teaching her to be in a healthier state of mind. When a dog is in a stressed out state, you can tell them to sit a million times and they will not respond. They need to be able to relax in order to process the information and comfortable enough to comply.

I have worked on some recall and introduced place. Once we get the through to her with relaxation, the obedience will come easily. I have her in a Thundershirt, weighted backpack, we will start cbd once it comes in. I am using as many resources and tools possible to help her. She has a lot going on in her mind.

Ok hopefully Gertie will get better. She’s use to a routine. This is a lot of new things being introduced.

She is an incredibly smart dog. Her fear and lack of boundaries is what inhibits her. This book will be lifechanging for you and her. Please read it.

Hope Gertie didn’t hurt you too bad and that the CBD helps.

I know she doesn’t mean to. She isn’t in the right frame of mind when she gets like that. I think the CBD will take some of the edge of. I’ll keep you updated.

My take I know the trainers experienced. I also know she has another dog there for training. Photo and video's I seen of him he's on a regular lead. In the one video of Gertie, she has several collars on, one being a prong collar. Gertie never showed aggression towards me or tried to bite me and was getting along with Mr. D. after he started giving her attention. So, what exactly is she doing, and why in 18 days Gertie could be getting this bad? I know Gertie had faults so I'm not blaming it all on the trainer but somethings not right. Doesn't seem anything like the photos on their website were the inhouse training dogs are enjoying family time with trainer and family. At this point I believe Gertie is not getting the love and attention she needs or deserves. Hoping Gertie survives till the 24th and there's enough of her left to revive. This is breaking my heart what have I done to poor Gertie? Thanks for letting me get this off my chest. Rant over

You haven't done anything wrong. The dog you sent her had serious issues. Most people would have sent her to the humane society, a breed rescue, or put her down. Please don't be so hard on yourself or the trainer. Have some faith, this is not going to break Gertie, you will be getting back a dog that minds and can be trusted. You have a soft momma heart, I know this is terrible for you. (((Drott)))
