Here is a link to how to use the snoot loop. Please familiarize yourself with how to put it on, as well as the safety line.

How is Gertie coming along
iMessage Message received from Carolyn Sanagursky 7/13/2022 9:41:11 AM
Well, she mauled me again today when the trash truck went by. She has learned that if she acts out-
thrashes around, snaps, pulls, etc. she will get to leave the uncomfortable situation. Now, I do not allow her to leave until she is calmer and we can safely walk away. It is slow progress, but we have to be patient with her. We need to continue to confront her fears head on and show her that we won’t let anything bad happen to her or us.

This will be something to continue practicing as she goes home. When strangers come to visit, ask them to toss high value treats into her crate. Having them avoid eye contact, and minimal interaction is best. It will build upon the association of people aren’t a
threat, they give good things (treats) and generally leave her alone and respect her space.

Ok have you been able to work on recall and staying in place?
iMessage Message received from Carolyn Sanagursky 7/13/2022 9:59:14 AM
The main focus is teaching her to be in a healthier state of mind. When a dog is in a stressed out state, you can tell them to sit a million times and they will not respond. They need to be able to relax in order to process the information and comfortable enough to comply.
I have worked on some recall and introduced place. Once we get the through to her with relaxation, the obedience will come easily. I have her in a Thundershirt, weighted backpack, we will start
cbd once it comes in. I am using as many resources and tools possible to help her. She has a lot going on in her mind.

Ok hopefully Gertie will get better. She’s use to a routine. This is a lot of new things being introduced.

She is an incredibly smart dog. Her fear and lack of boundaries is what inhibits her. This book will be lifechanging for you and her. Please read it.

Hope Gertie didn’t hurt you too bad and that the CBD helps.

I know she doesn’t mean to. She isn’t in the right frame of mind when she gets like that. I think the CBD will take some of the edge of. I’ll keep you updated.
