I read an article about a physician out west somewhere that is doing just that with a device that delivers a certain amount of nicotine, then shuts off until the chip tells it to turn on again. Of course, its the doctor who programs the chip. If big pharma has their way, thats what it'll look like.

... No, big pharma wants people to vape as much as possible to line their pockets selling nicotine so why in gods name would they want a limiter?

That is close to what I use for migraines. I usually take something caffeinated, and the migraine takes a hike. But come to think of it, I don't think I've had a migraine in over a year. I can't say it's attributed to vaping though, just I haven't had one in a long time.

I'm not sure if there is any relationship between smoking/vaping and migraines. I do know that when I quit *drinking* my migraines almost completely went away -- *almost* being the operative word -- I had one of my worst blindness-attacks, the flashing colors totally taking over my visual field, about 5 yrs after I quit drinking; it was really scary because I was driving at the time, with my son in the car with me. I had no choice but to pull into Wendy's and park with what little vision I still had, and my son had to guide me into Wendy's to sit down and have a coke, till it passed enough that I could drive us home. Thank goodness he was always an honest child; I gave him a $10 to get us some cokes and fries, but I thought it was a $5 -- when he gave me back all that change, later when I could see, I was really amazed, and really really pleased with him, to know he was so honest.

I have a SUSPICION that cold-turkey quitting might be a really bad thing for a chronic migraine sufferer; since nicotine is a vasoconstrictor, if you aren't replacing the nicotine, those cranial blood vessels could get really dilated, which would be bad news for chronic migraine sufferers.

even while some don't understand it I am totally with you on this. When I started my biggest issue was "ok so am I done now until my next "cig""?

At the beginning I smoked a few cigs which resulted in roughly 10-12 drags before I was done so I tried to limit myself to 15 toots on my mod which really helped me.

Everyone is different of course.

Bare with me here,

Here's a brief description of how dopamine works: You start a goal or action that has a desired consequence such as smoking to satisfy your nicotine craving, your dopamine starts to spike as soon as you begin the sequence of events leading up to smoking e.g. you pull the cigarette out of the pack, you put it to your lips, you take the first toke. After this the dopamine dips down a little and when you feel the "goal" is complete it will spike a little again - this is why the last few tokes often feel the best and why stomping the .... can feel satisfying.

compare it to vaping: it's a little skewed how the sequence of events happen. Nothing feels regular, most of us don't have to go outside to vape, there's no end to vaping except when the tank runs out. The events of start and finish are very hazy and far apart compared to smoking cigarettes. This is especially a problem for new vapers.

My solution:
I suggest manufactures needs to come out with a e-cig that has a limit on the tokes with several LED's lining the side of the e-cig which slowly go out one by one to show roughly how many tokes are left, once no LED's are lit up the e-cig would deactivate. The e-cig would activate again and the LED's would light back up after a period set by the user (as a interesting side note: if you added a beep or something when it's ready to use again it would give you the sort of emotional trigger getting a text message does - if your a phone addict like most of the culture). Besides being much more satisfying it would also stop us chain vaping, which some (not all) people consider to be an issue.

As another side note: i feel a lot of vapers are getting addicted to buying gear and this might help them get their dopamine fix instead of trying to get it through buying stuff.

The point of this device is not to stop people chain vaping, so please stop with those comments.

To be honest I think that's something that you as an individual wants and not what most vapers would want

I like being able to vape as much as I want, vaping delivers nicotine differently so I've found to get my fix it takes a while and it's a slow constant process, which I enjoy.

Smoking cigs would leave me ratty and craving nicotine after an hour after I had one, and I would get touchy and I started craving the nic. Whereas vaping is a constant delivery system so I'm never really craving nicotine too bad. Actually come to think of it since I started I've never craved nicotine at all because I'm constantly topping my nic levels up. Which is very pleasent.
