Remember the 6yr old that drank the nic? :?:

Well the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) used that story to support US Surgeon General's report on e-cigs.

What really happened,

The patient’s father administered to his 6-year-old daughter what he believed was a 10 ml dose of ibuprofen painkiller but in fact was a 70 mg/ml nicotine juice.
The container that was supposed to contain ibuprofen, a medicine sold over-the-counter in all pharmacies,
had been filled by the mother with her e-cigarette juice and stored in the fridge with a hand-written label “Nic” on its back.

So the mother is an idiot, and carelessly used the kiddo's empty med bottle for her nic. Dad, unaware, doses the kid, who's really to blame? Forget the blame, it's not productive. Prohibition and market suppression drove vapers into the DIY relm, and my biggest fear all along has been that the dumbest of the dumb among us would eventually wind up poisoning one of their little brats with nicco juice, and that will bring the hammer down on all of us, even possibly winding up in criminalizing possession of high octane nicco juice. The fun and games is just getting started in this battle...

So I been kinda busy :) I got my storage unit almost full, 10X10 feet and 8 feet tall stacked to the roof with all of our stuffs. Many things have gone bye bye, and more to come. We found a really nice one story house with a large open concept kitchen dining living room set up, and it feels much larger in person than the floor plan shows on paper. Some little issues needs addressed, but nothing major of concern. At least I can reach everything with a reasonable ladder and do a lot of the fixer upper stuff myself so that is all pretty good. We will be in a short term one month lease till we can close on the new place, and we reduced our overhead by about a hundred grand. NICE! Today I had a near panic attack hit me while driving around doing stuff, I really don't like change, but this change feels like a very positive step forward into our future...

Well even with the report we don't know what really happened. Maybe she did tell her hubby and he forgot, maybe he knew but there were more then one bottle.
Either way it was an accident and shouldn't of been any where near the SG report.
They are talking about passing laws about spreading fake news, What about the laws for passing fact data to Congress or to the Pres? :?:

Fact, a lil' brat got spoon fed some poison by their parent. Just happens to be nic which is a highly politicized and demonized chemical. Every thing else is moot, it is cannon fodder for the prohibitionists.

Read the whole story for what? Short version... There are a lot of stupid people in the world, and more are being produced at an alarming rate. Stupidity fuels the fires.
The Gov is not concerned with most vapers, or their opinions, they have bigger issues to deal with, and more money.

The mom is an idiot.

There was a case in my neighborhood a couple years ago where a grandfather filled a vodka bottle with antifreeze and left it in his garage. His teen granddaughter and friends drank it and two died. What kind of a dummy puts poison or harmful stuff in bottles that others may drink? Crazy.

My parents are pack rats, and Me and my wife both come from similar situations, it's something we fight against. She likes to purge every now and again. The last year and a half I have purged a bunch of stuff, and have more to go.

My youngest brother once told me, if my dad passes away, mom left us last year, he was going to rent a ten cu. yard dumpster and put a chute out the upstairs window of thier place, and just chuck everything into it... Dad had a bookcase in front of a bookcase :facepalm: I tried to explain that the living space was far more valuable than that box of shelves, but the depression mentality that was handed down through the generations is thick. It's a battle sometimes...

Another important point here.
This 6-year old drank SEVEN HUNDRED milligrams of nic - and didn't die.
I mean - OF COURSE we should keep kids away from Nic.
And OF COURSE anyone with DIY strength nic should be diligent about it - most people are more scared of it than necessary, and this case is CRAZY.

But anyway - in the awful instance where a child gains access - and drinks a whole bottle of regular old juice (and really - the stuff is NASTY - who'd take more than a teensy sip?????????????) - they'd probably get a tummy ache, and some dizzies. Maybe puke. This kid drank about the equivalent of 4 full bottles of 6-mg.

Just sayin'.

There has been some debate about the LD50 of nic, it is way off according to things I have read as in very overstated. We really do need some honest, unbiased studies to get relevant numbers. Nicotine has a long history of being a misunderstood chemical, not very different from other politicized chemicals.
