I've only had mine for a week. I've had the habit for a long time of looking at new mechanical mods coming out, most recently have been keeping my eye out for the SMPL mod or the Trinity mod on calivapers because they both offer mods that have no top cap, no modular threading, & are just 510 threaded with simple threaded switches.

But the hunt isn't the same anymore. With this Reo in my hand, another purchase of a mechanical mod seems pointless, despite how beautiful some of them may look, they offer very little practical benefits. In our case, they offer nothing but whatever aesthetics can be applied to a tube. The hunt is no longer the same and I can't look at other mechanical mods with the same enthusiasm as I once did. :(

I guess my vape budget will now be spent on Reo related products. :D

Out of curiousity, for the long time Reo users who are familiar with what I'm experiencing, have you also lost the need to look at other types of devices? If you do own and use other devices, what situations do you prefer them for?

The only setup I've seen recently that intrigued me into making other purchases was a novelty setup like this.

Edit: All my mechs including my fogger V4's and Kayfun Clones are now sitting in a shoe box. lol

I find myself in the same spot. Spent hundreds (if not thousands) chasing a simple reliable vape. Since I got my first REO in 2011, I haven't bought anything else. I've also switched to vaping unflavored nic, purchased in bulk, and I'm using a rebuildable atty (RM2). I think my weekly expense for vaping is now around 30-45 cents.

And that's to support an activity that consists of: 1) Fresh bottle of ejuice in the morning, 2) Fresh battery in the morning, and that's ALL. Good 'til tomorrow morning. It doesn't get any simpler or more reliable than a REO.

I'm only about a month into my REO experience but, yeah, I also have a decidedly declined interest in watching the latest and greatest stuff these days. Used to be I'd watch every new mech review / preview I could get my hands on but now I just kind of keep tabs a few times a week in case there is something exceptionally cool like the Squape R or new trends like the Aspire BVC stuff so I can keep in the loop.

I still have all my old mechs and RDA / RTA devices put away so they don't get dirty and nasty, plus I still build and drip on them every now and then. Mostly because I love mechs and also because if something happens to my REO then I'll have a fall back plan that *is not* a vv/vw "lesser" vape. I'm sure that will change as I start acquiring new REOs though :D

I know exactly what you mean! I have a slew of mods I bought before the Reo, waste of money! I was forever searching for the next big thing. Limited mechs etc. It seems I no sooner opened my vape mail with the new mod, and I was looking for the next one. That changed with the arrival of my first Reo. I'm done. I mean sure, I'll pick up some more Reo's, what am I crazy? :p but no other mods interest me. So glad I finally found the one.

I am having the same experience. Got my first Reo this past February, now I have three grands and one woodvil that I use all day, every day. I have about 15 other mods sitting on my workbench that haven't been used in ages. Like you, I do enjoy looking at all of the other mods for their aesthetic values, but will probably never purchase any other mod that is not bottom fed. Congratulations on moving to Reoville, but be aware that they tend to multiply quickly!

I've been using nothing but Reos for a year now and I have to agree. There just is not anything else out there worth looking at.

I've sold or given away all of my other vaping equipment, it's strictly Reos for me.

I did manage to fill the shopping void by starting DIY liquids. I find myself stalking new flavors as opposed to mods.

I was extremely lucky to find the REO when I was just starting out. I used a KR808D which is a small cig looking device that used cartomizers.

The REO had me hooked as soon as it was in hand.

I have looked at other devices. I now own a EGO with a clearomizer. Got that just to see what many new vapers are using. It mostly sits! I see it more as something to mess with if I am bored!

At a vaping convention I did hold and try some tube mods. I kept thinking, why? Why the mess, the fuss, the fiddling they were all doing.

Give me a REO, well, you really don't need to give me one, I have a lot, what I mean to say is with a REO, or REO's I got all I could ever want or need.

I'm an infant - third day with a REO. I feel completely confident in saying I'll never buy another mod, except more REOs. I plan to have at least 3 by the end of 2014 in case of FDA regs and such. It's my first and last mechanical mod. Let me ask you, what's the point in other devices? This is simple, easy as pie--no EASIER than pie. It's convenient. I carry 6 ml of juice and if I need to refill it takes 2 seconds with no mess. If I need to rewick, it takes less than 5 minutes and I don't have to disassemble many parts or empty juice to do so. Every hit is friggin perfect. Vapor production is fantastic. Flavor is fantastic. Durable, reliable, sexy. Great for sitting at home, hiking up a mountain, camping, driving, literally the perfect vaping companion for life.

You summed it up for me by giving the phenomenon a name--"The Reo Effect." No, I immediate couldn't give two craps about any other hardware. Now my vape budget will be spent on REO related stuff and more juice. And the time I save as compared to fiddling with a PITA tank etc enables me to live my life as I always did and with a better vaping companion than I had after hours of fiddling and just barely getting it right.

I couldn't tell you a single other mechanical mod's name, because I don't care enough to go to google.

My experience is similar except I was buying APV's: MVP, SID, 4 ProVaris, 2 DNA 30 devices (1 real, 1 CNA), Kayfuns out the ying yang, Foggers and other RTAs, on and on, and literally all that stopped once I bought my first REO...for a daily vaping device it's all I use.

Unfortunately somehow it's piqued my interest in mech mods. I had a Magneto but it was never satisfying. In the last month since getting my first REO I got...another REO, 2 Vanillas (real), a hand-made Vape Bomb, an RSM Cruiser II, and a Touchwood being built. Couple that with a bunch of attys...

But, the REO remains to the go to device.

I really relate with this. I can't even bother with clicking on mech reviews by reviewers that I used to watch religiously. I have to admit I did recently purchase the Aspire BVC coils and tank, but not for me. From the rave reviews they've been getting I think it'll help a family member start the road to quitting. I'll send him over to reosmods eventually if he does end up looking for more out of his vape experience.

Yep been there :)

I use to collect every mod under the sun. It was a great hobby. I still have many other mods and on occasion pick up something new, but the same thing happens every time. I play with it tinker with it and it goes in the drawer. It helps my OCD :)

Not a bad thing IMO but I have slowed way down on buying other mods. I am down to just a few new mods a year now.

It has however allowed me to make some wise choices as to what I check out. I no longer am hunting for the perfect vape (Found that long ago with the REO wood mod) I don't spend $ on junk but have lots of time to read and explore before picking up something out of curiosity.

I also have stocked up on Wire, wick and DYI supplies instead of buying new stuff.

But I have found I do spend more $ on REO gear. With all the new attys Rob has and different mods I just can not resist having one or three of every thing Rob has to offer.

I am not trying to replace my REOs just curious about things so I check them out.

My every day vape is a REO and always will be a REO.

Hope that helps, :)

Everyone has already said what I was going to say, so, so much for that. I just wish all the beginning vapers knew what the members of Reoville know. Unfortunately, they don't. Therefore, the mod manufacturers will continue to stay in business. I know that sounds somewhat drastic, but, had I known about the Reo Mod when I first started the other Mod manufacturers would never have gotten a single dollar from me. Just saying!!!

I hate to admit it but at night when I am home at my desk I still enjoy dripping. For me it's not so much the pipe and battery but the dripper. My drippers just produce such an excellent vape I don't want to give them up. Swapping flavors is just so easy.

That being said, my REO's are my primary PV's. They are the only PV's that travel with to the office or when I am out playing.

Pretty much nothing but Reos for me, going on 11 months now. I keep up with new stuff, a lot of times I'm fortunate enough to see new stuff come into my job with clients, but frankly it's all superfluous to a simple Reo setup.

I do keep a Hammer mech with an Origen or Magma on top it in my living room for when I'm lounging and watching TV. The Hammer is a pleasure to pick up and set back down, and the way I tend to hold it, the button is crazy good in the ergonomics department. I'm a really big fan of it, but alas it's still not the all inclusive package that a Reo is, so it stays at home.

I've PIF'd all of my old tube stuff away. I really can't stand tubes anymore. They look like dildos, and they are a pain in the balls to set down without fear of toppling over.

Cheers

I had quite a few mods on my journey to Reoville most have been given away. I still have my 2 ProVari although one has been turned into a PowerPro and a Saber Touch just because they are neat. (love the way they work) I thought I had the best and I was good to go. then came my first Reo Grand I knew my search was over. I thought in my ProVari days why would anyone want or need 6 or 8 ProVari 2 will do me fine. Well that was 12 Reos ago. Do I watch Phil B anymore? No, there's no reason to watch his videos. I do still get messages from Vaper Joe but if a battery isn't listed it gets deleted quick. The Dibster has his own mods now and I have one on order and I'm sure I'll enjoy it. But after one of those it will only be Reos for me.

Oh man, name a mod six months ago and I was on it - either I had it or I read up all about it. Same with toppers (tanks and RDA's).

The Reo, for me, was a natural step in that journey. It got rave reviews. It made sense. On board juice for use in a dripper. Nice, I thought. Nice. Not WOW. Not "this is the end" (queue The Doors).

Couldn't. have. underestimated. it. more.

It's just a marvel.

Now, I have more of my life back - no need to watch pbusardo, grimmgreen, vapingreek, todd, or that nutjob ripptrippers; no need to stay on the boiling edge. It feels good.

The wife is still rocking tube apv's, but she's set and has no wunderlust for the newest thing. She has, however, moved to a little DNA30 box mod I got her of late. Little by little, she's migrating towards a reo. When that happens, my vaping awareness aperture will close even more.
