At my place
I have been looking for a rebuildable atomiser to go along with my kayfun Lite Plus and Fogger V3. I have been looking at The Kraken, the smok RSST, and recently The Rocket. My priorities are no leaking, easy access, and micro coil with cotton possibility. While all three have easy access for me and seem to work with micro coil + cotton, The Kraken has no fill hole screw (leaking when on its side?), the RSST has twice as tight air flow as say a ProTank 2 (according to some people, others found the stock air flow more open).

So, seems like I should read up on The Rocket then. So I did. Some reported leaking but not with cotton, some reported shorts when air flow screw is all the way down, and now my question about The Rocket: it is made out of chrome-plated copper. I heard that brass would be bad for inhalation safety but what about copper - if the chrome plating should wear off? Any toxicity at higher temperatures?

And all-round question: how do you like The Rocket? Thank you.

If you already have the KFL+, why bother with a cheap knock-off like the Rocket? And yes, all the problems you mentioned with the Rocket are true. Well maybe not the copper part, but chromed bass is more likely. Rocket also has a poorly designed chimney o-ring that likes to fall out when you open the top tank, but it does provide excellent vapor/flavor with it's airy draw compared to some of the other Kayfun clones.

It vapes well, but more cons than pros.

I'd suggest taking a look at the taifun gt, there's a thread on it here that has some good info. I haven't tried one because I thought the distance between the coil and the lips was too far and the vape would be too cool to suit me. As it turns out, the taifun doesn't have an extra length at the end, so that the distance is pretty close to the same as a kayfun (which, with a short drip tip, is perfect for me). It is a big sucker though lol.

As far as the chromed brass, it's really hard to come up with verified facts, but from what I can find out I don't think we're getting any oxides at all from it, because temperatures have to be near the smelting point before oxides are released. It's used in a lot of the popular items so lot's of people are using it whether they know it or not. If it's well applied it should last a long time, so I say just keep an eye on the internal plating and if it starts chipping just get a new unit.

But the thing with e-cigarettes is that it's getting hot, isn't it? Would be nice if someone would post if only brass is of concern or if copper is toxic, also. The Rocket is specified as chrome-plated copper.

The coil produces heat but when the juice vaporizes that has a cooling effect. An atty can get pretty hot when chain vaped but even then, compare that heat to hot water say at 120f degrees.

I doubt the rocket is chrome-plated copper in spite of what FT says. It's probably chrome-plated brass because the brass is easier to machine and the chrome is then sprayed on.

It looks to be brass as well. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...2686-rocket-kayfun-clone-few-tips-tricks.html

I'm no metallurgist, but it occurs to me that almost all water we consume travels through copper and brass.

As I see it, there's really two issues here. One is oxides from the chrome. Some say that we do get them from vaping on chrome-plated brass, but everything I read from a more expert source says that chrome has to be close to smelting temperatures before any oxides is released.

But what happen if a little of the chrome gets chipped away, exposing the brass underneath. Assuming the brass contains lead, then yes, the juice could pick up a molecule or two and disperse it in the vapor. Just as we don't get 100 percent of the nic in our juice, we wouldn't get 100 of those molecules, so the dose we'd get would be next to nothing. Plus, once it's gone it's gone. The lead doesn't leech in the brass, we'd have to scratch off the surface to expose the next dab of lead.

As far as vaping on lead free brass, it's supposed to about as stable as ss. Take a look at the brass terminals on this flash-e unit.
