The Rose v2 Rebuildable Atomizer

since I first got my rose I've been tempted to turn it down on a lathe from 22 mm to 21 mm so it will be flush to my wizard but was always a bit apprehensive about trying that on a $200 atty. I'm not a big fan of clones and normally wouldn't bother with any clones but in this case I decided to make an exception and ordered a clone to see if what I have in mind will indeed work... if it does then I may try that on the real one and just keep the clone for spares

I run this atty with duals, 2 longish coils, maybe 12-13 wraps or so each of 28 ga at 1/16" ID, about as much as can possibly fit in the ceramic bowl and it's just awesome... pretty damn close to a dripper, as close as any tank has ever gotten for me at least

My caliper isn't that great but it appears the base and tank and tank top are 21.5 mm, I can see taking down the base and air control ring but I'm doubtful that there's enough meat on the tank pieces...or were you going to make new ones?

my thinking was to make it as thin as practical and then if it doesn't quite make it all the way down to 21mm comfortably then I would just taper the base to 21mm so everything is flush and smooth. hell truth is even if I just tapered the base so theres no "lip" at where they meet just up to the afc ring, even that would be an improvement. my only gripes of it on my WE are that it's slightly too large diameter and it's pretty damn top heavy with this atty on it. buy turning it I'm hoping to also make it a bit lighter in weight too... never gonna get it light enough to not be top heavy on a Titanium mod I guess but every little bit helps

I use silica in most of my tanks, oh I already said that before, well the wick slots are about the correct size for 2 mm and on my 3rd Rose cl.....e I'm thinking about opening them up to accommodate 3 mm including the ceramic. I guess I don't need to be in any hurry, I still have plenty of 2 mm but use 3 mm in every thing else. It's no problem to make 3 mm into 2 though. 50 ft of 3 mm arriving tomorrow, it should last me for quite some time. Just rambling.

Agreed. Two genuine Rose's here as well, and the best flavor I've ever gotten from a tank.

Have 2 roses in me bouquet too, fine rba, but, must say, Since Estia has come into my life, Rose's have been a tad neglected. The Gus Estia 510, well, she's a power house, native tri-coiled, juice and air control, can hold 5 ml of juice with the optional fatty tank, can easily handle 0.25 ohms while chain vaping.

So I widened the wick slots on one of mine to accept 3 mm wick, it was quite successful but I doubt that I'll be doing it to the other two. It works really good but the way they are doesn't seem to need "more", pretty wild

funny how stuff like this could be done on the original just as well, but who wants to start cutting into a $200 atty actually I opened up my juice feed channels in my original kayfun 3.1ES though, and that was ~$175, was before clones of kayfuns were around though... and then I did drill out another air hole in one of my chalice's... that was a whole lot of stress but it worked out well.

I go my rose clone into the shop and wasn't long before I realized that turning the whole atty down to 21 mm was not going to happen easily and even if I did the air flow ring was still going to be uneven so instead I decided to just machine the base so it matches up well to the wizard and that's it... that was really the most annoying part, the fact that you could feel that .5mm lip every time you held it... now it feels much better in hand and it looks like it belongs there

here are a few shots of how I build my rose... for myself I couldn't imagine doing it any other way, just looks like it's made to be built this way to me

I find that one huge diameter coil, with one big wick, tails split in two, to fill all 4 wick ports, works outstandingly well. Used 22 gauge, came out to just under 0.3 ohm's, and vape damn fine, no modification's needed, heck, with juice control, surgery is entirely unnecessary, in my honest opinion. The two major areas for improvement would be more air in, and a wide bore drip tip, so once could really open up the throttle, or something like that.

Right now am so enthralled with the Gus Estia 510, The Rose just, well need to dust and polish the bouquet, so to speak.

for me I find much better flavor with microcoils than with a huge diameter coil. I never run anything larger than 1/16" ID personally in any device... never tried one large coil in here though... maybe next build I will just to see, but I'm pretty happy with this as built and it's so easy to rewick

Mine needs rebuilt soon. Might try duals or the one larger coil.

I have a dumb question...is it ok on duals if they touch each other?

sure, no problem, they will isolate from each other with the dry burn just as each coil isolates from the adjacent in a microcoil, makes no difference if they touch each other although for the wick holes to line up they're better off spread apart

I did make a dual coil set up prior to widening the wick slots but since I wasn't able to get the coils dead center over the air hole that was not maybe the best set up I thought. I want the air to have pass around the two coils as if they are one, not between them. When I do dual coils on Kayfun types the coils are pushed together and touching leaving little to no space in between for any air to pass through so it has to go around them.

I thought about trying an "X" coil configuration like I've used on Ithaka's in the past but I preferred the side by side coils with that atty.

craig at first I would push the coils close together after wicking thinking just like you, but I noticed a slight increase in throat hit when I did that, I noticed here that it actually sings a bit sweeter and smoother with the coils spread apart slightly for some reason
