Well, a few times I thought both coil legs were in, but one was bent under the cup. Its a finicky little thing. If I have no reading I check the 510 pin first. If that's out, I pull the ceramic cup and sure enough one coil leg wasn't in. Or ha ha, got chopped by a grub screw.

Damn grub cut my 1st coil.

Here is an picture of my third coil. I call this one the "pull the hell out of it" special.

Both are under those grub screws nice and solid.

Found the problem, it was the positive post screw not making contact with the base. Added a o-ring and I'm getting a reading.

The head of the screw was below the Delrin "wedge" they have between the base.

Now I'm going to see how she vapes.

Thanks for the help Roxy.

My streak may be broken, to toppers bought, received and working. I'm really liking the Taifun GT and the build was easy.

I got the coil right on my very first try all those weeks ago and a grub screw cut a leg. I kept recoiling and getting no reading. Because that piece of leg was still in there  I had to take it all apart and get it out.

Marc, I use a 1/16 bit to line my coil up with the wick slots in the cup. Then trim the legs evenly to about 5mm. Then I drop the cup into the base with the bit still in. I hold the top of the coil down with one finger. Once I'm sure the legs both went in the holes, I tighten the screws and check it. Then I wick. Sometimes the coil goes in on the first try and other times it takes me 10 tries.

LOL..... thanks Roxy!

I'm on my 8th try now and appreciate the help. I grabbed the 1/16 pin I had after reading you post and made a small tool and the coil dropped right into place.

I can tell this is going to be a tougher build then any topper I own. Everything you've told me it makes it sound worth the effort so I kept working. With the longer legs my build can out a little higher than I wanted at 2.0 ohms but it is vaping real well on the ipv.

I want to make sure I post this where everyone can see it.

Roxy is a genius! She nudged me to the Rose after we danced with a Satan Squape for a couple weeks and she was absolutely correct.

The flavor on this topper is insane. Thank you Roxy!

Its the best I've tried so far :). The only reason I don't have 5 or 6 is because sometimes they take me too long to set up, lol!

I just don't like the taste of silica :(

yes, just Cotton arround the coil and in wick slots. but none in the coil.

I use Cotton Pad. wraps some Cotton arround the coil. and then out two small pieces of Cotton pad like the photo.don't forget to put some cotton into empty space.if not you might get dry hit.:)

Thanks for those pics, crazelee! I built a vertical coil from my old horizontal coil. Just took a couple of wraps off and ended up with a 0.9 ohm vertical coil. Surprised how airy the draw was with nothing to block the air flow. Maybe I should have used cotton instead of my usual rayon. The vape is much warmer than my old 1.1 ohm horizontal coil. Next time I'll wrap a 1.4 ohm vertical, which should vape much cooler.

you are right, its much airy the draw was with nothing to block the air flow. maybe you can use a smaller bit next time. like 1.8mm or 2.0mm. I using 1.8mm and it's really good.:)

Next time I'll try a 2.0mm bit instead of 2.4mm. I was a little concerned about the bottom of the coil touching the metal air tube and causing a partial short. I'll wrap a thin layer of rayon tight around the whole coil before pushing the legs into the holes. This was my first vertical coil and I'm glad it worked at all! Thanks again for your pictures, crazelee!

My pleasure. You don't have to worry about the bottom of the coil touching the metal air tube and causing a short if you put the lower leg into negative hole and upper leg into positive hole.Because the metal air tube is negative. ohms might lower a bit when it touching.:)
