I have to agree on the new Tobeco clones. Other than a slightly tighter max air draw they vape similar to the original. I actually have the same juice in a real russian and tobeco v2, same coil, and other than the slightly tighter draw they are vaping the same.

Lately I've been using triple twisted 32g kanthal, 7 wraps, 5/64 bit. I'm finding it gives a more crisp flavor while still produced a very dense vape. 1.1ohms seems to be my sweet spot on a good mechanical, but I do add another wrap or two when building for dna20/30 mods, since I find the more surface area gives slightly better flavor.

So far I can't find a better vape in a rba.

What's the ID and # of wraps on that? I'm trying to stay above .7ohm and I've been meaning to try out a parallel coil. It looks like a 5/64(2mm) but im hoping its 1/16(1.6mm) as i like coils below 2mm

Not sure about the I.D. I usually use a 1/16 too but wrapped this a little bigger to raise the resistance. I think it's still a little smaller than 2mm because a 2mm wick still fits really loose in it. I ended up using cotton as usual. It's 10 wraps, 20 total since it's 2 parallel wires. Measures 0.84 ohms. Coils take a second longer to warm up but vapes great and flavor is crazy. Of course it burns juice faster too.

Ball-Spring-Screw. Screw adds tension to the spring which presses the ball into the fill hole which then seals it.

Thanks so much. I appreciate your help. Unfortunately it's a no go, leaks like I sieve for my Hcigar. Looks like it's time to permanently seal the fill hole and take my lumps. What method and materials is the best way to permanently seal my Hcigar fill hole? I'm not excited about a tooth pick but I understand. The screw and threads make contact wiith juice so it's got to be safe and permanent.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Rubber or silicone probably.
Have you tried stretching the spring a little to increase tension.
What's the ball made of, metal? Maybe you could find a ball made of silicone or rubber of the same size.

Also another thought. There may be some obstruction (like a metal shaving) preventing the ball from seating all the way, thus allowing it to leak.

Thanks so much. I stretched the spring, used compressed air with a very small nozel to blow the fill hole out as well as the air hole in the base. The ball is metal. I think I will just silicone the fill hole and move on. Thanks again.

I was sooooo excited to pick up my Russian91 from FT yesterday. Im pretty good with rebuilding and dont usually have any problems. Got home wrapped a 1.4 micro which i was able to thread silica through. Thought it would kick ... everyone says kfl and Russian are the best rba. Huge learning curve i had juice leaking out the air hole everywhere and the flavor is weak vape is weak. So i thrrw my aga back on till i can figure this out. I guess i was foolih thinking id be able to throw a wick on and just start vaping right away

The KFL+ was my first rba as well, and I got it working on my first build, no gurgling or dry hits. Just watch the plethora of videos out there. Both rip trippers and pbusardo show a really simple microcoil/cotton build that is pretty bulletproof.

It could also be the quality of the clone you received from FT. Not all clones are created equal.

I did not like cotton AT ALL on other builds but I found cotton to be much better than silica on these Kayfun style attys. You may find the same. Also, the distance from the coil to the air hole on the deck play a large roll in vapor production / flavor. Just a thought...

Why not put an oring around it, So it will not leak?

thank you for the tip. I too was not a fan of cotton when I used it on my dripperbut I'm not opposed to using it if it will work and work well. I might stop by my local b&M tomorrow because one of the kids there has the KFL+ and I can probably get him to set it up for me or at least show me how to set up better than what I've been doing. I don't really go there much anymore since i DIY my juice and buy most everything online but every once in a while i stop there. Always great to have somewhere where the people know more than myself

Did you fill it all the way up to the top? If so, from everything I hear, it will flood. Only fill it to the top of the window.

How much juice would be in the 91% when filling to the top of the window? Reason I ask is that I seem to be going through juice much faster now using a micro coil / cotton setup. I understand I get more vapor, but I don't think it is that much more. I DIY juice, so it's not the cost rather I'm curious about the seemingly large jump in consumption. With the increased number of fills I sure learned how to fill from the top quickly...lol.

I sort of figured that out regarding the dense vapor = more juice, mdliffert....
I'm really curious about the capacity in ml when filled to the window. I was hoping some quantitative individual may have measured already saving me the time....lol. I tend to use whatever is handy and clean to fill devices so haven't been exactly measuring how much juice different devices take. Trying to get a baseline on the 91%. Maybe I'll have to get out a new syringe and blunt needle and start keeping track....yuck.
