You gotta love a well run forum - without this place I would have ended up growing my hair back just to pull it out.

So I took the vape plunge and ordered a 901 and a 501 kit, they should be here this week and I'll post a video reviews after I figure out how to work em' which should only take me a year or so.

If anyone out there enjoys good Absinthe then you know half the fun is collecting the accessories. Fountains, spoons, drippers, glasses and on and on and on.

I imagine part of the fun of vaping is similar in the sense if you love the accessories and gadgetry - you get addicted pretty quickly. Now if only they had Absinthe "juice" out there somewhere.

I don't remember what site it was, but I have seen Absinthe juice for sale. I'll see if any of the suppliers in my favorites was the one, and post back. Otherwise you'll have to do some looking around.....

lol, the 510 is awesome, you're gonna love it.

The more I read about the 901 the more I wish I had just ordered 2 of the 510 kits instead. better reviews, better packaging and a mouth piece like a regular cig - all pluses for me and the ball and chain...er I mean "better half...yeah better half that's what I mean"
I've just started to read through the legal issues regarding vaping (I'm using the ecig slang...u go old fat bald guy!) So let me you youngins' Absinthe went through the same thing.

It took ten years to lift a 100 year old ban.

A ban that was based on bogus information, improper and biased research, myths and lies. I'm sure the battle for ecig legality has just begun - at least it looks that way to me.



The good news is, if consumers make enough noise we have the power to stop it. Especially if you rattle the tree hard enough that an actual scientist gets behind the wheel to do some hard core research and submit the findings.

In the case of Absinthe - that person turned out to be Ted Breaux, a Bio Chemist by trade and a lover of Absinthe - he spent years testing pre ban bottles of Absinthe to find that in every single case the amount of "Thujone" (a neurotoxin) that was the cause for the hysteria never was higher than 30 PPM (parts per million) there's a thousand times more thujone in a single pinch of sage.

I'm rambling which isn't unusual, Thanks for the note and the link to the Absinthe thread.

Even if there isn't a decent Absinthe cart out there I can't wait to Louche up (make a perfect glass of absinthe...absinthe lovers have our own slang too) and vape some minty menthol.

I too love minty menthol. Try this when you start DIY.
40 drops unflavored of your choice
35 drops Creme De Menth (lorann)
5 drops menthol (make or buy - mine is 3 parts menthol powder/7 parts PG)

makes about 2 ml. will be 1/2 strength of whatever unflv you started with.
I have been vaping this for 2 months and love it.

Pernod (definitely better than Lucid, but fell a bit short on flavor - less fatertaste, but it was still there - the high was off)
Kübler (fantastic all around - absolutely love it - far and away the best)

I was told there is another brand, produced in Texas, that is at least on par with Kübler.
Do you know anything about this?
Based on my preferences up there, do you have a brand to reccommend?

Absinthe bar in san francisco is wtf?.....total waste of money and time. Do not go. Bartenders are almost clueless on how to traditionally prepare a good absinthe. ugh...

Hi Raven!

Lucid was the first Absinthe to hit the American shelves post the ban. It was formulated by Ted Breaux for Viridian spirits who also has a line of absolutely exquisite Absinthe called Jade.

They're expensive about $110.00 a bottle but his Absinthe is based upon century old recipes.

The only Jade available in the US is "Nouvelle Orleans" it's unbelievably fragrant, complex and fabulous. The color is a true peridot green and the Louche is like watching a storm clouds roll and fall inside your glass

If you like Kubler you'll be blown away by La Clandestine Bleue. It's the only Blanche (clear Absinthe) That I find to be as complex and luscious as a any top of the line Verte (green absinthe) cost is around $70

Mansinthe - formulated by Marilyn Manson, every one ...including me scoffed both at the name and his ability to produce a good Absinthe. At least years International Wine and Spirit competition it won gold. And remains my current favorite - cost $60

Other great Absinthes to try would be:

Obsello - beautiful with hints of mint and wild flowers - $45

Vieux Pontarlier -Double gold winner, lots of wormwood and fennel up front with a bit of menthol, it's a steal at $65 I adore it.

Duplais Swiss Verte - incredibly herbal and very smooth. You open the bottle to let it breathe for 20 minutes and your entire home will smell like an alpine forest, it's a gorgeous Absinthe. It's been available in the states for about six months. It's fabulous. $75

Pacifique - is an exact replication of an 1855 French recipe but it's made in Washington State. I would say along with Sirene' it's the best American distilled Absinthe hands down. Intense botanicals, great "push-pull" effect and delicious. $70

I can't post links yet, but if you like, I can PM you with a link to one of the largest source of Absinthe brands. They have a brick and mortar shop in Manhattan and a terrific web site. No tax and free shipping to boot. I've used them for years and the customer service in impeccable.

If you're looking for fountains, spoons, drippers and such I have a few recommendations on the best places to shop as well.

PS: As for an Absinthe distilled in Texas, that may be Hills - it's dreadful.

It's the same in NYC and lots of clubs and bars all over the US. The bartenders are indeed clueless.

Worse, they'll flame the sugar cube for visual effect only - they have to do something to justify a $12-$15 cocktail. Only an idiot flames Absinthe. It ruins the delicate notes of flavors and at proofs of 165+ it's dangerous. Ive seen more glasses explode and shatter than I care to remember.

Flaming Absinthe is like shaking a bottle of good champagne.

Don't worry, the 901 is just fine, the cigar tip allows you to use hands free unlike the cylinder tips. Your dog will be able to use it despite his lack of opposable digits! 901's are used by many vapists and are a workhorse. I hear the 501's are good and I have one on order but not because I don't like the 901.

Mach - thanks, I was starting to think I made a mistake. I've read the 901 is hard to draw and I'm not crazy about the cigar tip - maybe it'll grow on me. I was about to see if I could switch to two 510 models. But you make it sound like the 901 is worth a try.

The 901 is just different from the 510. The 901 does a good job of delivering flavor, but doesn't supply as much vapor or nicotine as the 510. It delivers, just in a different way. I can vape the 901 for hours, but the 510 gives me nicotine overdose! It delivers the goods. But they're both good and you never know which will appeal to you the most. A lot of people move up from the 901 to a 510. Some get a 510 and never try anything else.

Welcome, I too am a newbie, but I can't see myself going back to analogs at all. Provided the FDA doesn't do us in for a while. I'm stocking up just in case. I have the 501 and love it, but that's not to say your 901 won't suit you.

BTW, love the dog, I own one of those and a boxer, Oh the gas!!!! LOL

I have a 501 and plan on getting a 901 as well, plus am working on one of my own design.
I started with a Blu, and the 501 is just a different world, but I quit smoking with the Blu, so it can't be all bad, right?
