The second digit digit of my display has gone down completely.

It went out intermittently a few times, then if finally went out for good. I have been using it this way for a while, but I have finally decided to dig in and see if I can fix it. I have only taken a preliminary look at the board so far. I will take it to my electronics lab at my school this afternoon to get it under some serious magnification with good lighting. These surface mount components are TINY. I will start with all of the connections to the display, and then work my way down the list of other possibilities. I am an electronics technology student and feel fairly comfortable doing this. While I am worried about risks of damaging the board, I think I am ready to try it very carefully.

Has anyone ever attempted their own Provari repair?

I will update this thread with pictures and the solution the the problem if I find it.

uhhhh whay not send it to Provape? For a minimal fee they'll fix whatever is wrong, and then you won't have to worry about damaging the board. Just my .02 but i guess if electronics will be your profession, might as well start somewhere. Good luck.

That is my plan if I can not fix it myself. I am not going to go out on a limb and say that I am positive that I can fix it. However, I am very confident in my ability to get in there do some inspection and testing without damage. So I might have to admit defeat and send it to Provape, but I don't think I will damage it trying. So it is a project I will enjoy and will possibly save some money and avoid doing without my Provari for several weeks.

and if you do a new board is 70 bucks, whereas the segment would probably be in the 20 something range. and a quick email to provape will get you exact costs.
