Gotta love it when li-po's vent...

From my experience whit li-po's There are two main reasons that they vent, short (not likely in this case as it is happening during charge), or when being over charged, which seems to be the case here. I would speculate that the batteries are cheap and made in China (not surprising, nor do I think this is the reason for the failures, but I could be wrong!). What I feel is probably the problem, again this is only speculation, is that the charging circuit they are using has an incorrect setting and is over-volting the battery, or a combination of both. I in no way represent the company, I have never owned or used one of these devices, what I am typing is pure speculation.

I will, however, offer to pay shipping on a device that has not exploded and is going to be binned so that I can reverse engineer and see what is going on.

Edit, thinking about this there is one other possible reason, and that is that the charge rate is too high, lipo batteries have a "C" rating, which is usually different for charge and discharge. The basic rule we use to is that maximum charge rate is C*(MaH/1000) so if a battery is 1c discharge rate it can handle a 1 amp discharge, .5c charge rate, the max charge would be half an amp. If that makes sense.

For persons who purchased the SLB Vapros VI, PLEASE DO NOT THROW THE DEVICE IN THE TRASH! Disarm it without damaging it-- YES!!!
Save the device--You may need it for communicating with the vendor, manufacturer, and/or filing class action lawsuit(s)!
If you have videos of the SLB Vapros VI malfunctioning, Save them, too! for the same reasons.:danger:
I am not an attorney and/or legal representative. I have learned from previous personal experiences that evidence is extremely important; when you have a defective product of any kind--including water heaters.:vapor:

Thank you Lord Devon, I sure appreciate you posting this video for us.

And this is what is going to cause the FDA to ban e-cigs, carp like this!!!

You've got that right!

It is good that the community has been quick to identify this unit as a problem and health hazard.
Even if they fix the problem SLB may as well scrap it because after this no one is going to buy it - not after this.

Is there any people that actually HAD a problem with this device that have posted? Im not trying to encourage unsafe practices, but I have been using one of these for a month and haven't had any issues. I have removed them from my site until I hear from the manufacturer but I understand that there might have been a group buy where factories will often dump their defective units, Quality Control etc.. issues to those type of one time orders. To date I haven't seen ANY issues or heard from anyone that has had an actual documented event. Any information anyone has would be greatly appreciated. As far as being the most dangerous battery , they are what is inside of all our cellphones...Please don't do your battery research on You tube folks!!! Thanks,
Drew

There was someone online in another place that I don't believe I'm allowed to mention.

Are you saying "beware co-ops"- only suppliers get the good stuff?

Dimitri's early vid/review indicated some clear issues. That was plenty for me, long before seeing any of this. So, my answer would be a resounding "Yes!".

If you watch Dimitri's video closely you will also see that he is using the wrong charger (iTaste charger) with the device and also mentions that the supplier gave it too him and said that he didnt like it.
Issues often caused with Li-Polly batteries (as discussed above) arise from over charging and using incompatible chargers.
Again I am not here to promote unsafe operation or care of battery devices of any sort. I was just asking for specific reports from the actual users. Thanks,
    Drew

    Where is here? Thanks,

    http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo.../370428-vapros-v1-dangerous-device-alert.html

It plainly shows the voltage drop and the self activation, the unit was not on charge of any type as can be seen, its nothing to do with charging and everything to do with the circuitry used in the device, the company were aware of the fault when questioned and dispatched another brand new sealed unit to me, after that did the same thing suddenly they no longer wish to talk...go figure.

I purchased direct from slbsmoking.com for the purposes of doing the review, The first unit self fired twice, once in my bum bag (think its called a fanny pack out there in the USA :) ), the second time was with it sitting on my desk, the company were informed at that time and replied they agreed it was "switch problem" type fault, they then tried to get me to pay postage again for the replacement unit to be sent and after a few chats back and forth about if you send out faulty units don`t expect to get paid they agreed to send a brand spanking new device out, and they did, all sealed up and sparkly :), except that did the same less then 24hrs later whilst sat on a table , i had another word within the lines of "Guess what just happened again" and they immediately went offline, and so far not a peep from them, So i did the vid editing (if you can call it that) to transfer from review to alert. so yeah, direct from the factory outlet (SLB)..lucky i had the camera handy to catch it really..although the wife was a little nervy with the hissing :) .
