I haven't really been bothered since I started vaping, until today. I was out w/ a friend of mine who smokes analogs. We were sitting outside at a cafe when, about half-way through her analog, the wind blew the smoke in my direction.....I was forced to turn my head! Couldn't take it. I have a lot of friends who smoke analogs, and I hope it doesn't turn me off to hangin with them over time.

I am very surprised at how much the smoke bothers me now that I no longer smoke analogs! Even more interesting, is when I have a few cocktails, I do NOT crave smoking at all, can't stand the smell of others doing it and LOVE vaping!

No, I am not one of those crazed people that give dirty looks to those that still smoke analogs... I just tell them to try mine and they are usually hooked!

Quite a few of my friends and family have quit now and really enjoy vaping! Most likely saved my life or at least extended it some! ;-)

Since I quit analogs, I'm thoroughly disgusted with the smell. We have a smoking ban in Ohio, so bars aren't a problem any more, but even if the person in the car in front of me is smoking, I get disgusted and roll up the windows.

It's kinda like smoking an analog after you've quit smoking and started vaping. I tried one a few months back while I was out, and man, it was nasty!
Seems that many vapors become anti-smokers, adopting the language and the attitude. It's why I will always continue to smoke at least a couple of cigs a day. You do know that somewhere down the line there is an anti smoker just poised to say that your vaping produces a putrid smell, whether it does or not. I live in Ohio too. The smoking ban has not stopped the few bars that I go to from allowing smoking. I appreciate that and try to give them my business whenever possible.

Sometimes I can smell it, other times I can't ... for example, my boyfriend was sitting right across from me on the couch yesterday, he smoked a cig, and I didn't even realize he had lit one. But, sometimes at work someone will come in from smoking, and their smell hits me like a blast!

The smell doesn't bother me, I just find it interesting that I now notice it -- like I told a co-worker, it's as if one had never seen a particular color, lets say purple, and then all of the sudden you could see it -- at first it would seem as if there was purple everywhere you looked, and I think it would be normal to be amazed every time you saw it (for awhile at least).

Even though the smell doesn't bother me, I would prefer if smokers wouldn't blow their smoke right onto my clothing -- but that is only because I am kind of relishing the fact that for the first time in over 30 years I don't smell like a cig.

I started vapeing on 6/26/9 and havent had an analog since. I can smell cig smoke and people that smoke like it is a new smell that I have never been around before. My wife still smokes cigs and I got to say when she gives me a hug or kiss I cant stand the smell. Hard to believe since I used to smoke a pack a day for 21 years. I used to think I could go out and sneak a smoke at work but now I know my boss knew every time I went out. He must be confused now that he cant smell it anymore, hope he thinks I cant afford to buy them and gives me a raise, lol.

I am amazed how sensitive I have become to analog smoke. Seems like I can smell it from a mile away and it is not very pleasant anymore. Can't believe I smelled like that for years, never having a clue I was smelling that bad. Have no idea how my husband was able to put up with it for 30+ years - what a gem! I absolutely refuse to be one of those obnoxious reformed smokers, so I just grin and bear it when friends or family smoke around me, then thank my lucky stars that it isn't me anymore. It really is amazing how we really don't smell it while we are smoking and how quickly the smell sensors return after quitting.

I worked in a famous Cincinnati chili restaurant as a teen and my uniforms could stink up a room...from the chili. I worked as a server in an upscale steak and seafood restaurant...stench filled my clothes from the food and the cooking process. I was a managing bartender while in college and tolerated the stench from well trodden and wet floors, old beer, appetizers, and the myriad smells of a few hundred people in a small space. While in the Air Force my building was located on the flightline with C-130s regularly taking off and landing. The smell of flying in a helicopter with the doors open and my feet dangling was filled with fuel odors. Pumping gas I sometimes get droplets on my shoes or hands. Changing my childs diapers and cleaning up their vomit was no picnic. Working in a hospital where children are receiving their 1st round of chemo and have odors spewing from every orifice as well as the chemical/medical smell of the Nicu and Picu was bad...but not as bad as the burn unit. Gathering around the fireplace or the outside campfire with family and friends makes all smell like burnt wood. Garlic, onions, and cheap cologne seem to ooze from the pores of people for hours after use, no fun on an elevator. The zoo on a hot day is less noticeable to my grandchildren. The smell of sweat on a lover is offensive IF it is not your lover.

All of the myriad of smells from my life are part and parcel of memories filed away that I have experienced over my lifetime even the stinky ones. Every individual has their own special scent. Smoking smells differently on each. My father is gone now but I fondly recall the smell of him and his occasional Ibold cigar. I would love to smell that stench again.:)

The smell of analogs is much an association for lots of us. Growing up, the times I got to visit and stay with my grandmother were great memories. She was a smoker, so that is my association. It would be many years before I developed the habit. She had to quit eventually for health reasons and would tell people smoking around her she did, they would apologize and she'd say "No no!, I know I can't have one but I just love the smell! Please continue...".

Having since stopped I've noticed a few things (and I do believe as someone else mentioned cigs smell worse these days) such as, the smell of it burning is ok. The after smell on the clothes or house reaks. The smell of an ashtray from within a few feet is downright awful, but I had that opinion even as a smoker. I actually feel somewhat embarrassed now that I carried the stale tobacco smell on me for so long.

Unfortunately my grandmother didn't quit in time and the damage was done. I wish there was an e-cig back then.. even if it was some honking contraption you plugged into the wall she would have been down with it while she watched her movies...

I don't really care for the smell and I never did as a smoker either but I don't hate it. What I hated and still hate is when the smoke is cloying. Ever been in one of those "smoking bars" at the airport?
After 3 months tobacco free I am finally ready to admit my entire wardrobe needs to be put through the wash. I can reach into the closet and pull something out to wear but if I spend much time searching my closet for something to wear I become aware of the awful stench of tobbacco.

When I was a smoker, I always hated when people would get whiny about the smell. I never wanted to be one of them.

To this day, I try to be tolerant of smoke, and hopefully always will be. It's awful though. The smell is bad, but that's the least of my problems - second-hand smoke now seems to irritate my lungs a lot more. Makes me kind of nauseous.
