A more idiot proof method? For mE :?:, it is!

Tighter spacing = Quicker wire heat up
Less "warm up hit"[much less] needed!
Quicker to vape temp! & thus more anolog like!

Some may enjoy a cotton cover (less is often more]

What are you using for wick? A cotton ball?

Amazon has the large 1lb rolls & CVS has smaller rolls.

USP cotton does not need to be boiled or baked. Thus it is ready for use as purchased.

northhar, I have not ever vaped a standard boge type carto. I do imagine the Spin E coil mimics some of its positive aspects.

Ideally I think wick holes need to be larger rather then smaller. That said the tiny griffin wick hole does the job & if not chain vaped hard, the wicking keeps up OK for me. If a "Spin E" coil set ups wicking ability does not keep up, one can often drip on a "Spin E" coils wick until a non chain vape cycle or a fix(if one needs to rewick) can be made, thus if one is on the go & has a wicking issue no nic fit ensues.

With the "Spin E" coil, I find less is more with the cover fibers. Very little is needed.

I also try to use as little Cotton wick material as I can, to avoid fibers being squeezed in the wickhole. I only twist enough of the tip that enters the hole to thread it into the wickhole & then use a pin to stuff the rest into the hole.

Thanks for posting.. and well done.
Your welcome & always remember:

I've been a 'cotton fanboy' for a while now :D. Nice option :thumbs

You're not getting any glowing coils during vaping? When I was rewicking my CE2s with cotton (threaded through the coil), I'd notice an occasional glowing coil during vaping and started putting an extra wick over top of the coil. It seemed if all parts of the coil weren't touching cotton, then those parts would glow.

The Spin E coil is new :2cool:, I only started using it a few weeks ago:blush:, & I have only been vaping since late August .

That said Here are some tips.

COTTON COVER

[I only started using it on the "Spin E" less than a week ago]

The cover does not need to be one piece of cotton. I find crafting it with a few tiny little slivers works best.

I find that I like to use a cotton cover that consists of few slight strands of cotton (less is more for me). The cover should be almost transparent so you can see the coils. [I use pins & toothpicks of many sizes & try to sculpt the cover. I sculpt by laying the cover on & wetting it. Then using the picks 7 pins I slightly draw with them like a pencil & outline the coil. Thick spots of cotton cover on the coil cover area get a few fibers pulled away & thin spots get some pulled onto the area.]

I test it without the cover for a bit first, but if the cover is just right I find more vapor & flavor comes with a cover. *If one desires the warmer vapor of non covered "Spin E" coil, vaping with a cover for a half ml or so will help ensure that the coil gets sticky quicker @ the most tippty top section of the wraps circular structure

Only a few times have I needed to change the cover before a rebuild. The cover should get brown blackish burnty looking with normal use, but not burnt. [*if cotton carbonizes it no longer wicks.]*I think any cover changes I do are all due to my errs, either by chain vaping way too hard &/or letting the tank go to low.

Extreme popping during the first ml or so may lift & separate the cotton cover off the coils. Thus I check under the hood for it early on. I use a flat toothpick (or a dulled tipped one) & push it down to press it back onto the coils if it happens(It does not always happen). *No cover users may experience a similar thing around the coil. Simply reseat the fibers by pressing. Separation seems to happen less, if I wait a bit to vape hard.

Cotton seems to like to set for a bit (or me to be gentle on it) after being wet for the first time. I can imagine cotton fibers are like a new garden hose. If I set a garden hose into a barrel of water & dunk it. It is not all wet inside the channels. Warm/hot & not chain vape hot E liquid needs to be drawn into the cotton slowly by heat & time. Also the USP processes imparts a taste that needs to settle out. USP processes taste = taste of drinking out of a new garden hose(not that an old one taste nice). *I place water every day for critters in my yard & am usually very in tune with them & when I got a new hose this year, it took about two weeks of settling time before the weird hose smell dulled enough that the critters would drink it & I could not smell it (mE while watering the garden & not drinking from it).

I hope that helps a bit.

*The hawk I feed needed a place to chill & preen after the big storm. It was not hungry though.

Very clever Mr e
so basically you just wrap your wicking media around the coil right? I will try silica as I dontblike cotton should be around the same I assume

I would imagine if enough silica wick made contact it would be possible, but I doubt it would be the same. I am not familiar with working with silica, but I must note that the soppyness of cotton does much better for me than fluffed up hemp cording did. Its all new to me though & silica may work like magic. I am scared of silica splinters & thus advise not to fluff silica out into tiny fibers.

My comprehension of how the "Spin E" coil works is:
The Spin E coil has such a tiny diameter that the coil itself wicks Eliquid off the wet cotton. If enough wet cotton touches the "Spin E" coil, the coil wire(& its sludge) acts wick-like. (apparently due to surface tension accelerated by heat). *ultra thin cotton covers are optional.

urquidezj, Thanks for giving the "Spin E" coil a try with silica.

I must also thank you for starting the "Vivi Nova Rebuild tutorial". I am a recluse of a hermit & started posting on ECF, due in part to being awed by your excellent tutorial & all of the other tutorials & teachings within ;)
