I have come up with a great method of rolling your ss mesh into a tight wick. for me it was tough to get it tight using a paperclip alone.
first, you roll the mesh up like normal. then unroll it slightly, exposing the top portion. on the top portion- in the same fashion youd roll it up, roll it downwards. and then roll it back up normally. once you complete the wick, it will help greatly to contain a nice shape and tightness.
maybe you guys already do this but just figured id share.
