Thank you! I wanted to ask, but thought I should know. Must be a youngster thing.
You guys SERIOUSLY didn't know to what I was alluding? LOL

I typed it that way so that the post would not "hit" for anyone actually doing an internet search for such material.

"Youngster thing." I'm 51 years old! Yay, I'm still the "baby" of the family!!:laugh:

LOL No Snow sir, I believe it's acts of sexuality caught on video camera or transcribed into words....

Why in the world would anybody want to put that on video Morandir? And how do you know about that kinda stuff EleanorR? What have I gotten myself into on this forum? That's just nasty!

Perhaps if the thread's rules were a bit more flexable and slightly more inspired, or influenced (flexable and modifyable) , and/or then enforced more evenly upon ALL contributors it might have had legs. Rather than chastising contributors however mildly, perhaps a more free form rule set would have contributed to something that could have been more fun for all involved.

Egos, (I include myself here as I am sometimes too honest for my own good) and perhaps a tiny bit of the clique mentality may have contributed to the slow demise of a thread that might have been long running, entertaining and fun.

For instance, my little sidebar story about squirrels... how is that done with two sentences? I thought it a neat little tidbit of imagination in the Tolken story telling style, but no, that was against the rules. So instead I should have canned the idea? The strict two sentence rule (which is sometimes violated by those who object to the breaking of it) is sometimes just too constraining for creative thought and writing. Perhaps that was not the intent of the thread in the first place? In which case, I would be entirely mistaken in my expectations of it.

Neat idea. Failed execution IMHO. Sometimes, a good game needs to have it's rules changed as the players play it and learn how it can be improved. Those rules should also be applied to all, not just for some. Anyway, have fun with whatever legs the thread still has, and please don't think there are any hard or hurt feelings on my part. It was fun while it lasted. It just became a little too... um... restrictive for me to enjoy contributing to it.

Well, I'm glad to see you back here, NoM, even if it is just to fuss at us. I must note that it sounds like your feelings are a bit hurt. Please don't be. The whole point of the two-sentence rule (as I understand it) is to inspire real discipline (both stylistic and creative), and to encourage the more timid to add their own :2c: :D

As for "more inspired" or "influenced" rules, I'm afraid I don't even know what that means. Where I come from, "free form rule set" is an oxymoron, and "changing" or evolving the rules of a game during play is called something very unflattering.

I think the best solution would be for you to start your own Story Time thread, with your own rules/guidelines/rule changes. I'm sure many of us would play, and it too could be epic.:)

P.S. -- My grumpy rant at #17 in this thread was not directed at you, anyway. So you're not alone in being harassed by Da Rulz Police.:)
