That's the 1.3 version of the Derringer. The actual V2 isn't due out for a couple months I think.

I think the V2 Pro is probably what you pre-ordered. On Syntheticlouds site its only listed as the V2 Pro. Why? No idea.

Oh, okay. Thanks for the clarification.

Edit: I loathe all the "versions" we have to deal with.

well.. after reading this thread.. I just ordered a Stumpy. grabbed a delrin cool cap and a delrin chuff at the same time.

the 2 post and fairly deep well.. ya. I can wrap fused claptons etc all day.. but I HATE mounting .. especially 3 post attys. Its like a mental block for me. centering etc... its a real struggle for me. Ive been using the Twisted messes rda and liking it... but I get a fair mount of spray out the side air holes. before that I used a hobo.. loved that too.. but hobo needed more air flow.. I like hot fused clapton builds..

so.. seeing this 2 post.. I got a wee bit of a chubby =)

Ill post when I get and give my thoughts.. but.. kinda excited for this! thanks for the thread!

Coiled, wicked and ready to drink!

These are the wicks seriously seconds after dripping straight down into the well (and I did *not* drip directly onto the cotton at all). I think it wicks so nicely becasue frequently when doing regular dual-coil builds the negative leads often choke the negative-side cotton a bit. Also being that there is no center post, there is free space and it seriously just gets absorbed straight-away to the cotton.

"Painted" the wicks.

Ready to vape!

thanks Mr Mann! no shipping notice yet.. hmm.. Im stoked. this seems to serve a number of better understanding requirements.
deep well
simple building ( 2 posts looks to even trump the simplicity of 4 posts )
easy to drip to! I bought a Kennedy comp a few weeks ago.. everyone loves them. not me. 3 posts ugh. and pita to drip too.. the air holes in the way, etc. I loved my hobo, but for the low air, love the twisted messes, but, 2 posts even better. sweet! thanks for the good pics! thats the chuff cap option?

Yeah, the well plays a huge role too. Because the top of the well is right below the coil, the cotton just sits right there in the liquid (I only have the tails of the cotton just barely turning into the base) and it drinks up the liquid rapidly! But beware, you may have to re-drip more than you realize.

p.s. I am not one of those pack-the-well-with-cotton builders! It may cause me to have to be more careful when titling the mod (when using this atty), but I never felt copious amounts of cotton allows for liquid to flow freely to the coils. So I use just enough.

same here.. wicking minimalist actually. you could probably raise the coils above the walls though. that would help too.

My coils sit right above the well and are directly in front of the air holes. Too much higher and they'll be too close to the top cap (for my taste). But there is a at least more room to work with that those super tiny-profile RDAs, so my coils could go up a smidgen -- but it's all good where they are. ;)

Please let us know what you think. Your preferences seem to match mine and I want to know if The Stumpy is worthy or if I should stick to the Derringer.

I don't know your preferences, but if I was to bet on it I'd say the Stumpy is not better than The Derringer for flavor, but you'll probably love building on it. Of course, you can always make any atty shine if your build is good, and I suspect you can do just that. The Derringer is just one of those atties that can be imitated, but never quite duplicated. (Not saying The Stumpy is an imitation, but it's clearly another RDA riding the coat tails of the success of The D!).

Yeah, the mini atty is trending right now. Nothing wrong with that but I don't see a lot of innovation just imitation. They suit my vaping style - great flavor with plenty of airflow and dense Vapor. I don't care about cloud chasing but I do like a nice amount of thick Vapor. The Derringer does that well. So does the Samurai Bonsai, Tugboat with Slammed Cap and the Odin. They're all I use at the moment and I'm mainly looking forward to new versions of those attys.
