hi,

I don't trust youtube reviews about e-cigarettes. So, I came to this forum to get honest answer from experts in here.

I bought a new Tornado kit (ego-T) from Totally Wicked ; two battery + two atomizers + 5 pre-filled cartridges. I consumed the 5 cartridges so far using both atomizers I got, but since the first puff I had a bad burnt taste till the last Puff.

my question is: honestly, is this the nature of the e-cig? or you guys don't have the same problem? this is my last hope to quit smoking,,, am I ganna enjoy e-cig,, and how?

Thank you

No. Burnt taste isn't the nature of e-cigs. There could be several factors involved.

If the tank wasn't seated on the atomizer wick properly, this will cause a burnt taste.
I think you can move that wick up a little. Someone will either correct me or tell you how to do this. I have no experience with the tanks.

Other people have had problems with the tank systems. I suggest that you try cartomizers. They're less hassle. Just saying...

Hello and welcome to ecf.....I use the tanks and here is what I do.....first, I blow thru the attie to remove any shipping primer and then wipe them out really well with a q-tip.....hold a tissue on the threaded end to catch the primer liquid.....I usually fill my own tanks so if the atty is new I put 2 drops of liquid on the wick and put the tank in, then I puff a couple of times without pushing the button, kinda like primeing a pump....works every time for me......I use the reg atty-t's for ego and the 510 atty t also.....lr not so much, those tasted burnt to me....
hope this helps and congrats on making the switch.......let us know how it goes...
:)

I can only tell you my story. I smoked for 45 years, 1.5-2 PAD. AND, I didn't really want to stop smoking. But, over a 2 month period, I did! It was much to my surprise, let me tell you.

How? I researched, and researched, and then researched some more. Mostly on this forum. I got cartridges the first time, but it took me less than a week to switch to tanks. Some people like the refillable cartomizers, some like cartridges (I didn't), some like tanks.

It's all in what you like. I "thought" I would like tobacco flavor. But then I found out that it's the sweet flavors that do it for me. Caramel, cappucino, truffle, etc.

The nice thing about the Ego style is that it is so flexible. You can use almost any 501 threaded device on your batteries.
I suggest you go do a bit of reading in the Ego forum and find out what may work for you best and try it. There's a world of tasty, satifying vapes out there! Explore it! And don't give up. Everyone here is happy to be supportive.

Anyone know if Ego-T attys come with nasty tasting primer on them? If so, you may have been tasting primer.

I use Boge cartomizers. The Ego can use the standard resistance ones or the hotter LR 2.0 ohm ones (the LR ones also use battery charge faster). I recommend starting with standard resistance while you learn to fill them properly and keep them damp.

And there are dozens of juice companies. You can put juice in the tanks (I think tanks like 20-30% VG juices). Backwoods Brew is one good juice place. FreedomSmokeUSA, PureVapes, VaporBomb, Gourmet Vapor, Velvet Vapor, Tasty Vapor - lots of good places. I actually prefer 20% VG or less in juices for cartomizers - helps me get more days of good performance out of a Boge cartomizer. For testing juices I use a standard 510 atty and a 510 drip tip, or a Joye 306 atty and 306 drip tip. Then juices I like best get cartomizers.

Yes - you have a great base to build on with Ego. 510 threading has the most stuff. Before tanks came along (very recently) the vaping methods of choice were Cartomizers and Dripping. Now some people like tanks, some people like big modded CE2 reservoir cartos (more of something for a tinkerer w/ patience). But I still think most people like standard out-of-the-box blank cartomizers of some kind. And the most popular are the Boges.

When you get some juice you may like the tanks better. And if you don't then not a big deal. I do recommend you get a normal 510 atomizer and 510 drip tip to try dripping, and eliquid so you can use it to help you blow out and vape off (without inhaling) the primer on the atomizer. Dripping is a good way to test juices and some people prefer to vape by dripping. You could use any PG/VG blend w/ dripping. You could get 510 carts and try them too. And Boge cartomizers (I recommend thinner juices with those, like 20% VG).

Those atomizers (attys) definitely come loaded with "primer". Blow them out into a tissue AND drip a few drops of juice onto the little wick in the "spike" that pierces the tank.

Frankly, I hated the eGo T system. No matter what I did, burnt taste with all three atomizers I had for it. I finally pulled one apart, and discovered that the wick was burnt, hence the vile flavor. They just are a pesky design IMO, but I do know some people like them. I'm not one of them. I just put a regular 510 atomizer & drip tip on that eGo T battery, or a carto. Much better! I know there's this whole replace-the-crap-stock-wick mod you can do, but I wasn't up for that much fiddling. And, the tanks themselves were messy and irritating too, so...

If you can get it working for you, I know some people swear by them, though.

I am one that likes the eGo-T system. My very first one was terrible and my 2nd one burned out fast... but since then it has been great. I have been using the same atomizer since April 5th! I have all kinds of mods/tanks, you name it, but I use an eGo-t type 'b' as my everyday take to work vape - I have used the type 'A' , but like the bigger type B as the vapor/flavor is better IMO, plus it holds more liquid. I take a few primer puffs (no button push) and then go from there, usually not needing a primer puff at that point. If you are getting a burnt taste, it sounds as if not enough liquid is getting to your atomizer. I am taking it you are using the pre-filled cartridge/tanks from TW. They should work fine. If you are using a VG based liquid, I would expect a problem, but TW's liquid is PG/VG and should be OK. Problem is once you burn the wick/coil, it is hard to get rid of the bad taste. There is a thread in the eGo section on how to adjust and/or replace the wick. You can pop the needle out and take a look at the wick. I think part of the problem is when people blow them out, the wick gets blown away from the coil, or down into the "needle", depending on which side you blow through. It should be a real gentle blow, not forceful. I have pulled some apart, replced the wick, and dry burned the coil to get a working atomizer again, with varied results, but mostly positive.

Whatever you do, the eGo/Tornado is very versatile and you can get regular 510 atomizers, cartomizers, clearomizers or just about anything that will fit the 510 threading on it. I still enjoy a fresh 510 atty with a cart and the eGo cone on occasion. Best of Luck in your vaping experience!

I dont recommend cartomizers to brand new users because you *can* get a bad one or two right off the bat, as it seems that may be your case. I suggest to newbies to use a regular atomizer and drip. Dripping is inconvenient sometimes but it's still the best way to get that clean taste, flavor and throat hit. Cartos and tanks are the progression of dripping. They are an attempt to get the benefit of dripping while being more convenient. Some do this relatively well but it's hard for the newbie to determine what is wrong if something is awry. Not that atomizers are fool-proof either. There's a learning curve there too, but IMHO it's the best new experience for the noob.

Some of the reviewers you find on YouTube are legit, honest people. The best thing you can do is look for reviews that have a lot of good comments from people thanking the reviewer or expressing trust for the person. The more people, the better. That's a good way to sort the wheat from the chaff.

Yes, some of the reviewers on YouTube are snakes...shills...liars...cheaters...they are pretty easy to spot, if you watch a few vids. You'll start to see inconsistencies and odd patterns.

Just beware...if there's something that looks shady, ask about it here. Someone will square you away.
