I was sick of breaking my plastic box's at work (construction worker), so I built TuffBoxx.

A few guys on site asked me to build them some so I figured I'd show them off before they go.

18650, 6ml bottle
I am currently building a few VV with voltage display juice feeders from the same boxes. Ill post those in a few weeks if there is any interest in seeing them.
Hope you like!

I like the oval meter window, nice touch.

I only do Big Battery 3.7 volt mods in the boxes, but your metered VV juicer looks nice.
The true Hammond Box has a little more room in it but the MPJA box is cheaper.

The natural finish adds to the rugged look and I've found polishing doesn't last with the die cast aluminum. Have you found a finish that works and lasts on yours?
I tried this with one.

I dont plan on putting any finish on them. It would probably get scratched up relatively easily.

I have to give a BIG shoutout to Rocketman for the inspiration. I stumbled across some hammond boxes in a local electronics store shortly after i saw his mods.

The voltmeter moves its decimal point so all 3 points are used.

The smaller, cheaper boxes wont work for 2 18650 batteries. The hammonds will but the batteries will be staggered 1 on the bottom left; and one on the top right(if that makes sense). It will leave approx. 7mm under 1 battery to fit a vv board. wont leave much room for a display.

I have been thinking of making a tutorial. Lemme know if your interested! Im pretty proud of the insulated mounting point for the positive of the battery!

On a side note- I managed to get $160$ for the VV (with cheap protected batteries and charger) Thought that was alright!:2cool:

This looks AMAZING.. where do you buy nice buttons such as that. I have been using 12v tactile buttons with really cozy rubber covers for a really low profile so I didnt have to use an on off switch

Look at MPJA, Allelectronics, BGMicro. It's a shame but some really nice switches come in 3/4 dia size.
Another thought would be to mount one of the horn type from under the cover, bonding it into place with a chamfered hole for access. Less likely to be 'pocket dialed'.

I use the other MPJA box for the duals.

Try this with a Plastic Box Mod :)

That would get me in trouble with Misty (hint hint) :)
lol,, agreed, Lately I have been spending more time on ECF than with my wife so Misty banning me for trying to flog mods would be awful.. I may try to become a small time supplier for those who are not so handy. Until then, local hear-say only.. :2cool:

Ill try to compile images for a tutorial over the coming weeks
