had a plank of walnut and decided to rip some strips...wide enough to get a decent rounded edge .
the edges are made with finger joints in a table saw with a home made jig. before gluing together I counter sunk for the 510 connecter and for the diy magnetic fire switch .
the front has a bumpout for the electronics . it cuts down on the " grip size " the bezel is fiberglass layup for the raptor .
while waiting for parts I played with a dial knob made from an rca connecter , brass tubing ,and sacrificed a screw driver tip which came with an atty . to use a 200 ohm pot w a Philips recess .
on the dna version I used a wooden form for the bumpout . stretched a piece of rubber glove over it ..then wetted out two layers of carbon fiber , placed over it and then stretched another pice of rubber glove over it to hold the shape till cured.
the cutouts for the readouts are made with a hand nibbler . a great way to cut sqare openings !
the holder for the dna readout is some foam strips glued in .cut a clear lens from a cake box .secured w a couple of drops of versachem gel epoxy ..a thin layer of foam on top and then the board itselv
on both vesions I used magnets to hold the top . the bottom is just epoxied in .
now to the charger ...using a b6 smart charger and made a harness for it . to balance charge the 2s lipo
the connectors are for 5 s used two pos leads and two neg leads 20 gage and one for the balancing lead . [ one pin left out ]
allows for a little more current that way. also made an adapter for the 1 s battery in the dna version.
before gluing in the charge port .....these connecters melt by just looking at them ! these pins a small !! so solder one at a time and press back in .
the carbon fiber is a hybrid w cevlar in it ..a buitiful blue ...so much for that ..the blue just about disappears and it is miserable to work with , it leaves a fuzzy fiber when drilling and sanding...so stick with regular carbon fiber.
now the firing switches..playing with different builds ...a little smaller and recess most of it in the wooden side wall.
the bottom contact is a pice of circuit board material ..the top contact is a 40 cliber shell casing .fits perfect for a 10 mm magnet .epoxyed in a little deeper and then filed or sanded to clean for a good contact. it has a floating sqare soldered on the shell for soldering a lead . the other lead is soldered to the bottom piece ..used silicone high flex wires .they can pull higher amps then you need for these builds but work nice and cost next to nothing! oh just about forgot the opposing magnet is glued on the back after the switch is build. whish I could explane that better .
the raptor on the second charge went for 4 days !! but it is big. on the dna don't know jet this is on the second day.
thanks mamu for the scematic and fuse info .also many thanks to bj mike asdac for ansering my stupid questions !!
