hey now...need to do some more research but really really intrigued by this whole cotton wick idea. what type of fabric is used in the boge 510 cartomizer tanks? am I even able to use cotton or say bamboo in a cartomizer? I use the boge 510 carto tanks with glass tank. Haven't strayed from that method other than the vivi nova's. thanks!

I use cotton wicks in novas and RBA's and if I can figure out how to post my cotton wick A7 atty... That would just blow your mind on the vapor but it works with silica too but without getting that strange flavor the first few draws. With RBA's, the build matters as well.. As far as cartos, I'm pretty dumb...

Cotton Rocks !!!! I use it on my rebuildable Vision clearo's ( a.k.a. Stardust )

I got 2 iClear30's and 4 heads.... wicks are ok, but I have used it as is for a few days, washed it out and pulled the silca wicks out and used regular old everyday cotton balls they sell at wal-mart or your wife/girlfriend might have in their make-up case.

It boggels my mind all the crap people do to clean there stuff..vodka, ring cleaner things, alot of other way of the hill things. Just rinse and dry things off..anyway..pull wicks out but make sure the top coil is NOT touching the bottom coil, nor the sides....then pull some cotton off the cotton ball roll inbetween your fingers until long and thin then thread it into the bottom coil, pull through then a little fluff and cut to fit...repete along with the top one.

Once again double check that the coils are NOT touching each other nor sides. Screw back on the tank, fill and wait 5 mins or longer for cotton to soak up juice. At 3ml it will soak up to .5 ml or more...then enjoy it.

Also when there is no juice left in tube you still have along time with just the wet cotton from your juice to vape :vapor:

is it true that the silica wick may cause cancer is inhaled? i mean when you rewick, it will cut into very thin airborne silica fibre right? then, when you inhale, it will goes into your system together with the vapour. true?
False, False and False.

Silica wicks will not breakdown to the extent of being inhaled into the lungs. This is because the fibers are too large to be inhaled. This is also why some users of silica wicks complain of scratchy throats, these fibers get swallowed or coughed out but not inhaled.

Silica and it's safety has been an ongoing conversation on ECF for a long time. The Biggest Myth is that Silica Wicks are dangerous and you will get silicosis or the Big C. This is not a true statement.

Some have investigated Silica wicks and Boden a well respected member of ECF has conducted some tests on these wicks as well as researching the topic thoroughly has included some valuable literature. You may like to read this thread and in particular his posts.

As with most things, always rinse /boil(cotton) wicks before use to get rid of any shop/ machine dust.
