I have a question about carrying batteries, i have a plastic case which holds 2 18650 batteries, would it be safe to carry 4 18350's in the case or would the contacts cause a problem ? any help appreciated.

Charging question:

I got the Trustfire charger with my vamo from myvaporstore.com. I'm not simply cheap, the other one was sold out.
The Trustfire has 2 settings, 3.0v and 3.6v.

My question is what mode should I be charging in and how long should it take? I've been charging the Samsung 18650's I got (2600mah) in 3.6v mode and after about 10 hours the light is still red. It goes green if I switch it to 3.0v mode.

So confused :/

Leave your Trustfire charger set to 3.6V. and Yes it's painfully slow.
How slow? Well, I've seen charge times all over the map reported by users here.
Mine takes all day to charge an 18650.

The other charger myvaporstore sells looks to be a copy of the Xtar WP2 II.
Battery Chargers : Xtar WP2 II
The Efest charger hasn't been professionally reviewed online , so who knows of it's quality.
The Xtar, on the other hand is one of the best you can buy. (I have one)

You can wait out your charger or look at purchasing an Xtar or Nitecore charger as are recommended in this thread.
Another thing to keep in mind....
The batteries you ordered or unprotected Li-on's, not the safer chemistry IMR type.
Keep an eye on them while charging.

I find the opposite - dual 18350s last almost as long as an 18650 and give a smoother vape. Is there a chance that you are in AVG mode?

Single 18350 doesn't last long at all, but longer than it does in the evic.

(And before the electricians arrive, let me put out there that you get no capacity bonus from stacking. What you do get is higher - doubled - input voltage, which the vamo seems to be able to handle much more efficiently.)

I don't know anything about TrustFire chargers so these are just guesses, but an 18650 is a 3.7 volt battery. Given that, 3.6 volts would seem more appropriate. The charger may have a hard time supplying enough current to actually reach 3.6 volts though which would account for the red LED after what might be a normal charge time. Getting the green LED on the 3.0 volt setting might actually be indicating that the battery is at 3.0 volts which isn't really fully charged for an 18650. Maybe try another charger from a different vendor.

Thank you both :)

I only put it on 3.0v mode to see if the light would go green and it did.
When I took them off the charger after 10+ hours the led was still red but the batteries tested at 4.2v
I've been into flying RC Helis for a while so I definitely respect the potential hazards rechargeable batteries can pose. They never got hot, or even raised temp over room temp. They haven't gone puffy or anything either, and I am charging them in a deep ceramic bowl just in case.

I do have 4x 18350's on the way, I suppose it would be prudent to invest in a real charger, I really just added that Trustfire to the order so I'd be able to use my VAMO right away :D

Thanks again, glad to know I'm not the only one who has experienced ABSURD long charge times, I'm just glad one of them does last about a day and a half.. just long enough to get the other one charged, LOL

Charge times aren't nearly as ridiculous charging 18350's with the Trustfire.
I would recommend testing with a multimeter to see where yours is cutting off the charge though. (Mine stops @ around 4.17V)
It will also continue to trickle charge, so remove dem bats when done.

The Xtar charger I linked above charges my Panasonic 18650's in < 3 hrs.
The Nitecore won't be quite as fast, but is more 18350 friendly.

Just to let you all know, I read in this thread that some people were not having any luck using the ulra fire 18350 1200mah, I have been using them in my vamo and have not had any problems, they do have botton tops and I can screw the cap all the way down on mine, it has the new spring and does not get hot or has not had any trouble using the ultra fire 18350, maybe I just got lucky. Anyway Im just letting you all know my experience using this kind of battery. Thnx Ron R

Ron, it's not about ICR UltraFire '350's or Any battery Luckily working OK in a Vamo.
It's about the Correct and Recommended Battery so the Vamo will work Effectively and the Better battery is also the Safer option.

A few things to be aware of:
IMR's and High Drain batteries are capable of at least Eight times their charge capacity and have much higher drain limits, are less volatile, safer chem.
AW IMR 18350 700mAh actual rated mAh = 763mAh - is capable of pulling 6Amps.
Best choice.

UltraFire Unprotected ICR 18350 1200mAh actual rated mAh = 763mAh.
This ICR is only capable of twice its charge capacity in output drain.
So the 763mAh is only capable of pulling 1.5Amps.
Even if you argued the rating is truly 1200mAh that would still only be 2.4A.
Poor choice.

Using this type of Unprotected ICR in your Vamo is Not recommended Because these ICR's are Not high drain and are Not safer chem. These batteries will get stressed in a Vamo and they are Volatile, this means they are unpredictable as to when something will go wrong but when it does go wrong, Think "Vent with Flame".

Expecting an Unprotected UltraFire ICR '350 to push 5Amps safely in a Vamo is pushing your luck.
