I don't look down on smokers, whenever I smell someone smoking a cigarette, I'm always shocked and disgusted with myself. I'll think, I did THAT, for 31 YEARS!!?? I've never seen another vaper 'in the wild', as in, face-to-face, and not in a car, so I don't know what I would think if they were using a cigalike. I'm not a buttinsky by nature, so I doubt I would say anything, unless, of course, they saw my eGo setup and asked me about it.

I have one aunt who vapes cigalikes, they're 21stCentury brand that you can buy at Rite-Aid. The last time I saw her was at a family funeral several weeks ago, and she seemed interested in what I had, and even vaped a couple of puffs. But she seemed to lose interest instantly when she asked me where I got mine, and I told her you have to order them online usually, since B&Ms are uncommon. An amusing side note is the fact that another one of my aunts, that same day, 'scolded me', by saying, "I thought you QUIT smoking!" I told her that I had, and when I tried to explain the concept of vaping, her reply was, "But you're STILL smoking!" I wish I was making that up.

Oh, immense snap brohammer!!

And I say that being a fan of some of supermarket's posts.
But the Utah thing just jiggled my funny parts.

And I say that as someone who wouldn't mind retiring to Utah eventually.

Did I cover all my politically correct bases?
I can only hope so.
:)

Utah is a nice place, and I couldn't live anywhere without the mountains but you soon realize that drivers here raise the bar for douchbags everywhere. Mini vans are UTV's, urban tactical vehicles.

I wasn't joking. But it's not like I'm constantly judging ppl. I though the way I wrote it had a funny undertone that was meant to be taken lightly. (I guess most ppl read it in this spirit anyways.)
:toast:

I didn't misread your thread....nor did I read it in the wrong "spirit".

I did mention I was going to be brutally honest, and also....like you said, it is hard to really convey a message over the internet since you only get half the package (you can't tell tone, mannerisms, expressions, etc). I wasn't trying to be mean.

I just honestly don't see why an ex-smoker would judge a current smoker. It seems absolutely beyond all sense to me.

On another note, I see this kind of stuff ALL the time. Someone who once had a bad habit, and ended up stopping (even if temporarily), look HEAVILY down on those who they see with the SAME BAD HABIT THEY HAD.

I think it is a reflection of a person's guilt. When you see someone else doing something YOU yourself did for so long, it brings up feelings of guilt when you realize how bad it looks through someone else's eyes. That causes you to judge them harshly , because part of you is judging yourself (by proxy).

It is kind of like a parent who used to smoke, drink, or do drugs. They warn their kids OVER and OVER again now to partake....and sometimes when they find out their kid is/does....they go overboard with yelling, punishments, etc, etc. Part of it is guilt on the parent's part....I've seen this a lot.

Understanding it is the first step towards not doing it.

Out doucheing a doucher...

So I was in the douche capital of the world, and at a time where their doucheness knew no bounds - Montreal around '95 or so. We were in college and they used to have weekend trips there for absurdly low cost - it was about $50 for a charter bus ride and 2 nights in a pretty nice hotel.

So a few of us walk into the first bar we see. The bartender comes over and presumably asks us what we'd like in French. We politely tell him our order. The guy walks away mumbling something and comes back practically throwing our drinks at us. He then goes over and starts chatting up his buddies. A waitress sees this and rolls her eyes. I ask her if he speaks English, and she replies "He speaks English, he just refuses to."

That was all we needed. 4 of us ran up a pretty big tab, doing shots, a noxious mixed drinks, etc. We paid the bill, I said "I know how to tip, I just refuse to."

For the record, Montreal is a great city. There's tons of great people there. But there's tons of doucheness that takes doucheness to the next level - these French Canadians who are militant about everything French Canadian. These douchers have set buildings on fire because they didn't have signs in French. What shows their truest priorities - when the wanted to secede from Canada, all polls showed overwhelming support. Once they found out they'd have to take their share of the national debt with them if they left, suddenly the official vote to secede was absurdly low.

When I see someone with a Blu or something, and they ask me about my tank/Provari, etc. I always think "Allright, do I have 15-20 minutes for this right now?" because it turns into a seminar. I had to start somewhere too, so I try to be helpful. BUT, I draw the line at someone with a cigalike preaching to me how much better it is than my tank, mod, etc.

I saw a woman at the store the other day struggling with a knockoff vivi nova tank, and HAD to help her out with Protank/Carto tank knowledge. I felt bad for her.

As far as smokers, I loved smoking. I enjoyed absolutely every cigarette I smoked and nothing helped quell the urge before vaping. I don't hang out with them too much tho, they start to smell good to me again.

I admit that I enjoy that douchebaggery status. It's very amusing when someone walks up to you while you're vaping and they ask to bum a cigarette or borrow your lighter. When I had cigs, I'd typically wind up charging them a dollar. If I had spare NJOYs, I wouldn't mind charging them $15 to "bum a smoke." But... I don't take it as personal as when this bummer asks to hit your pv. To me, that's like...overkill.
