For everybody who has a VMOD, if you have or have access to any way to make a 1/16" hole in a Boge carto wall, and some contact cleaner, you will be rewarded.

Since I cleaned the switch and its spring with an antioxidant (and installed a fresh Boge 2 ohm carto), it's a whole new level. The switch now passes all the current, huge difference.

Boge 2 Ohm soft top cartos do enjoy a huge following as the best cartos, bar none. They are inexpensive, under $1.50, and last. But they have the limitation having a capacity measured in drops. So ... team that up with the VMOD's excellent bottom feed, and the direct unregulated battery connection, and this is aMAzing.

I don't like something in the Silos, but I DO appreciate the Silo vapor. Well this is like double. Seriously.

Here's a question for some of you technically oriented vapers --

What makes the resistance of an atty go up? I've noticed it with with my Hybrids -- both BF and Universal as well as at least one other branded atty. It's not gunk on the threads---these guys have been vodka soaked.

Normally usage makes the resistance go down --

I am going to take Fernand's advice and get some Boge's, and then have our work Maintenance guy (otherwise known as "my" maintenance guy ;)) drill holes in them as he did with a couple of my other attys. I was getting a horrible rancid taste occasionally with my Vmod attys, and I'm guessing that the coil issue is the culprit, although I haven't examined them that closely, yet. (And just an FYI, I have a tendency to overfeed.) And I, too, hate the taste of the silos. Sorry. Can't be helped.

I do love the little guy (I've named him Jasper :)), so I'm hoping that Vapage figures out the issues with the attys soon. In the meantime, I'm rocking my Ego with a GotVapes Fluxomizer, and I'm pretty content. Do miss Jasper, though. He looks so lonely sitting there in his new woody duds, hanging out with my abandoned juices... Poor little guy. :( All dressed up and no place to go.

Kasia, are you drilling the Kangers or cutting them or what? Maybe at some point someone is going to find ones that you don't even need to drill ...

Pheisty, make sure you show the man the last drilled carto picture, and warn him there are tiny wires in there, we're not sure exactly where they run, so the drill-press should be adjusted to just pierce the metal layers. One hole seems to be enough, but two are ... just twice the chance of damaging something?

Got mine in yesturday afternoon... ordered the a la carte version, got the premium in the mail along with the extras I had ordered. Threw in a trustfire while the vapage batteries charged, filled the bottle with some sweet pipe from Rawr, and away I went... Wow am I satisfied!! There was even a drip cup already installed in the mod, so I didnt have to do it myself. Vaped it all last night, and most of this morning before my batt died. Installed one of the vapage batts, and noticed that it was shorter, and the on off switch would not work due to the longer positive button I guess.... Still great mod, great price, and so far (keeping fingers crossed) no leaks... So glad that I read this post and pulled the trigger on one... Now all I need is few different "skins" for it.... Thanks for everyone's great input on this thread. :toast:

That's right Fernand !... You don't need to do anything, just slide
the Tall “upper” V-Mod O-ring on the Kanger cartomizer and you are ready to go.

The vapor production and the flavor, again... flavor are fantastic !
I am vaping all day today and it works perfect.
All I need to do is change the batteries and add more juice.
I am on the second bottle and there is no leaks.

I love my lil VMOD because of the design and size.
You can also "change his clothes" and it is a juice feeder.
Can you beat the price?... NO !
:p

Welcome to the vmod world crk :) ... It's a such great lil vapor isn't it!! So happy to hear that you read the thread first. It does make the learning curve much shorter that way :)

I do have to forewarn you about one thing tho, and this is very very important!!!
These lil vmods are highly social critters and DO NOT like to be alone... They do best when in pairs. They will keep you up at nite, won't leave you alone for a second thru out the day until they get a playmate... So to save yourself some grief I strongly suggest that you just give in now and get your vmod a lil friend. You won't regret it!!

@Kasia, can you explain? Where does the juice get in? Do you use the tiny bottom washer or just screw them down? With the Boge, the seal is very good just (soft) metal to (hard) metal. Not even seeping, and with the plastic robe on the carto the seal on the upper part is even better than on the Vapage burners. Juice works up into the filler chamber, while the airtube stays clear. BUT without the hole, I can't see juice getting into the carto. Can you show us how the Kanger is constructed, and where to get some to try? There are people now and then who say they've found a better carto, but almost everybody comes back to the 2 Ohm Boges. They make a huge fine-particle vapor, very flavorful. On a freshly charged battery, it's almost too much. Almost ;-)

You are right, the feeder and size are great.

@Crk - put a little piece of like silicone rubber in the corner so the blue battery moves down a little. That fixes the switch plunger plate being too close to the positive terminal and the ON-OFF lock.

Fernand, I have a question for you. I don't think I've ever tried boges, and for me, both the silos and the hybrids are working great, but I'm always up for experimentation and checking out other stuff. What I'm wondering about is drilling vs punching and if you are concerned with the metal shavings from drilling entering the carto. How would you get them out? Seems like even compressed air or soaking wouldn't address tiny bits of metal catching in the fibers of the filler material. I would think punching would introduce less debris.

Just curious. Thanks!

Just screw them down. Here is the link to avidvaper.com Kanger Horizontal Coil 510 Cartomizers - Avid Vaper

I see Mike has the Kangers. He's a good guy. Good price on genuine longest-lasting Joye batteries. Has Delrin drip tips 5 for 5.99 too.
KANGER 510 LR HORIZONTAL COIL CARTOMIZERS 5 PACK

After drilling I blow from the top, and that gets the shavings out. There's not much. But if there are any tiny pieces that don't blow out, I'm not worried, because the fiber filler acts as a trap, and the air tube is a separate compartment anyway.

As far as punching goes, it might leave fewer particles, but I've always seen the carto get distorted over several millimeters from the punch. Here you want the hole to be very precisely on the edge, or it will get covered, and the rest of the carto completely intact. If the bottom flange is distorted, the bottom seal will be poor, and where the cylinder is indented the top gasket seal will be poor: seeping.

So, tell me, are you just feeding juice from the top, or have you found a secret hole to bottom feed?
