Something I wanted to share-
Last night was bath night for my VMod..... so this morning, with it all dried out- I fired it up with a freshly charged batt- and all is good with the world. But the vapor production seemed a bit off (I am using a 2.8 silo- not my favorite but I have 2.2s due to arrive soon)...
I put the smallest / tiniest amount of Noalox on the bottom of the firing pin- and it seems like it improves vapor production.
(Could be all in my mind, but I have done this before with the VMod and it always seems to improve the vape)

Welcome Rowdy & vaptamist!!!

Vaptamist, wrt your atty vs carto question it a a matter of personal taste as with all things vaping. :) I have not found a carto that does not mute my juice, so I prefer attys. Some cartos come closer than others to the full flavor I desire, and the silo is one of two. Dripping an atty gives the best flavor IMO, a close second is BF. I'm not a "fiddly" vaper, I want as simple as striking a match. For me, that is the Vmod.

If you can dial in your preferred wattage, you will save yourself a lot of money in the quest for your perfect vape. For instance, I run 5.5-6.5w, which is considered cool. I know what ohm attys to buy/try for my devices. With a the LR/HV craze, finding SR quality attys is not always easy. :( I am beyond happy with the hybrid's performance across the board and my quest is complete now. :)

I would be concerned with juice contamination. Most especially with a carto. I have used naolox on the firing button, but haven't really noticed a marked improvement like w/r*eos. Be Careful!!!!

Not sure how the Noalox would get from the firing pin / + battery terminal into the juice...??

Noalox- is an 'anti-oxidant joint compound used frequently in / on electrical connections. It basically prevents oxidation while also assuring, and improving (debatable , I guess) electrical connections. Available at most / all hardware stores. The amount needed is sooooo small- you dip only the very tip of the pointed end of a pin in Noalox, then wipe onto the firing pin / + battery connector.

Like I said, could be my imagination, but I do know it is used / recommended in quite a few other mods / units.

As far as the atty vs. Silo question, one other thing to keep in mind is the cost factor. These Silos seem to last a LONG time, so they are great value. I find the Silos to be much cooler than the attys and I like them both for just that reason. Sometimes you feel like a nut...

I have also received the infamous burnt taste on attys occasionally. I find that I am UNDER feeding them at that point and sometimes just a quick drip will bring everything back to steam engine normal.

Vikki, no squirshing? Tilt 'n Vape :)

I was at a Vape meet a week or so ago, and I saw the saddle valve in action, punching cartos for tankers. It worked VERY well and was very easy to do.

Noalox has been recommended for other (R) bottom feeders, but I do recall reading that it is unnecessary for the VMOD. Couldn't hurt tho. I sometimes use it on the VMOD because I have a large tube of it and welp, it's just not getting used that much on the other, if ya know what I mean!

AG, thought you were going to say that Noalox smells like fish...

*lox*

t-taz, my Dad smoked when I was conceived. I spent most of our lives together blaming him for MY smoking.

Been meaning to comment about the silos.... I am an atty guy but a while back I ran out of attys and was using silos for a few days until I got my order... They did work very well huge vapor almost like the attys... Big thing I noticed was the flavors were muted but for a short time.... Almost as if the silo needs to be broke in like an atty... After about a half day seemed to me to be almost as flavor-able but as Katdawling said cooler.... Anybody else notice the same...

I don't know if I'm lucky or what. I just found a saddle valve kit at my local hardware store for 3.99. I had to assemble it but it looks and acts just like the descriptions that have been floating around the forum. It did look as if they had been hanging on the hook for 10 years or so but still.

I plan to use it with my go-go tank but eventually plan to try a regular carto for the Vmod. If anyone in NYC is looking for one try the hardware store on Bway bet 101-102 on the east side, they own another one a few blocks down Bway & the NW corner of 98th. or 99th., maybe 97th.

Very similar experience Scotay. The carto's seem to be best if you can give them a nice rest once and awhile? On the cooler part -- I'll just say, I often like LR carto's -- but not so on atty's. Except for the hybrids---I'm a RR vape person.

I can't be sure but it seems like the wire is thicker than other carto's I've demolished....

Any techies around that could tell us if there is some science to this or if we are just delusional?

I don't think those tools would work well for the Vmod modding.

Those saddle straps work VERY well.
