After being off for 3 days the first day back was a long day at the prison. I came home and no Vmod on the counter, no mail at all. Turns out my wife didn't stop at the mail box. So, after checking the box............. IT'S HERE, THE VMOD HAS ARRIVED!!

Yeah yeah yeah! At first read, I thought you were imprisoned for not having a Vmod...

NO! No, no, no!!! CC is dangerous.

Is Glendora anywhere near Glendale? I doubt I can get down the hill with this fire anyway:(

Fire? No! What fire? Come on down. It's not a whole lot farther than Glendale (maybe 20ish minutes more). Love to meet you in persona!

Toothpicks and lube. Our new slogan. (Sorry Brian! LOL.) (delete? delete? delete?)

Bwahahahaha, I got that squishy cup installed in that sucker finally!

Bianca, knew you could do it! Here's to the squishy cup!

High, sorry :(

There were no extra seals or catch cups with my order. Are they pre-installed on the new chassis? Emailed support about the new chassis and they said I already have it.
The catch cup came in a gasket set that was sent with the new chassis. There are a bunch of posts regarding the catch cup a few pages back some with pictures and good info on the install. It is easy to make your own however. Just use the bottom of a atomizer sleeve about 3/16s tall.
hope this is of use to you, and with feeding this little beast less is more if you catch my drift.

Yep, I have a gap there too. I don't have a leak there though.

Found the Leak !!!

I cleaned it over and over again to make sure it wasn't the bottle, nope, its between that metal ring and the chasis. Does everyone else have this gap where I drew the arrow?

Heres some close up pics of the installed catch cup. (post 1814) One set of instructions is post 1773. The toothpick as a tool came up after the close ups, I'm pretty sure.

I seem to remember some asking about macro pics of the catch cup, and not sure if this has already been done. But here are some close ups of the catch cup in place and a blurb at the bottom on how I did it.

IMG_1143.jpg

IMG_1144.jpg

I cut the "ignition" + wire slit with fingernail clippers. Used a drop of juice on the cup to lube it lightly as once it's in the cavity, you will most likely need to rotate it to where the slit will align to the + wire and the wire will fall into place within the slit. I used curved tweezers and a dental pick to get the cup in the cavity.
Hope this helps.

OK- I am NOT a teacher but I'll try my best at a catch cup tutorial.
First thing to realize is there is an indent or depression in the VMod that the cup will drop into, you are not simply trying to squeeze the cup under the wire. To insert the cup, it must go IN and DOWN at the same time.

1. Make initial cut down the side of the cup (do not cut the bottom: as stated in the included directions) Pic 1
2. Optional: make a mark on the catch cup where the cut is, it may help you to see the cut once the cup is inside the VMod (pic 2 has an enhanced line for visual purposes).
3. **KEY** Don't try to push the cup in, yet! Lay the cup in the VMod with the slit facing directly toward the fire botton Pic 2. In other words with you looking at the VMod with the battery compartment on the left, the slot in the cup should be at 9:00.
4. I used a small jewelers screw driver pic 3.
5. Place screwdriver into the cup , pointed down as far as it can. pic 4
6. in one motion- gently and slowly press down AND in while lowering the angle of the screwdriver (pic 5 shows final position of screwdriver)

I have done this twice- one time I got really lucky and the wire popped into the slit and I was done. The other time I could see that the slit in the cup wasn't directly under the wire. To line it up- take your screw driver and gently press down (like in picture four) and slide the cup clockwise or counter clockwise until the wire is in the slip. (This is where the marking at the cut line may also help.) You can double check for correct positioning by pressing the front lip of the cup down, so you can see the back end of the slit

Heres some of the story of the Toothpick Tool use for installing catch cup:
Lugnut discovers toothpick tool:
Yeah the catch cup was not easy to get installed. I used a toothpick and progressively sculpted it as I went along to make a Hook to help get the lip under the metal line. So far though, even with the thinner juice I'm using. The catch cup is dry.
Ken 79 comments on toothpick tool:
kat, lift the wire with a tooth pick or something. it's not soldered on or anything so its flexable. just don't use too much force.

Bizrad pitches in:
kat, lift the wire with a tooth pick or something. it's not soldered on or anything so its flexable. just don't use too much Here is what i did point the slit at where the the positive wire is going into the bottom and take a toothpick or dental pick and push the left side flap down under the wire once this is done you should be able to turn it into place!!!! force.

(edit) Here's Scotay's great input:

Thanks to Ken's toothpick comment I had an epiphany.... Take a toothpick shove under the wire and wedge it into that little hole there in the middle of the pic... That gives you just enough clearance to shove the catch cup in and a little fiddle room to get it into the right position...I did not even have to hold the toothpick it stayed there by itself... I have been messing with this for over an hour including using a vise to hold the chassis to free up my hands... Did the little toothpick thing I mentioned and 2 minutes later with a little reposition... Cup inserted

Kat responds:
Good morning, Vmodians! News flash!

I told you I would do it! YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So the moral is: Toothpicks are one of the Vmoders friends! (and I sure edit a lot!)

Well Dahhhling. Glendora is a good 1.5 hours. Fire is in Cajon Pass and I need to stick close since it's only about 20 miles south as the crow flies. Maybe another less hectic weekend? Do you ever meet up in the IE?

t-taaaaahz, when we strolled down to Laguna Beach, it was nearly 2 and 1/2 hours. But worth it to be with our vape community and get silly, in person! I understand you wanting to stay close to home tho. And be ready to fly if necessary if it gets too close, yes?

We have met only in these two locations, so far. I would love to see a Valley meet. As far as the IE is concerned, I would say that Glendora is about as close as you're gonna get.

Really wish you could make it!

Next time.

I think I got credited incorrectly, vikki. But I must say that the toothpick is really what did it for me. Holding up the firing wire just enuf to get the cup underneath... brilliant Scot AND Ken!

Nite nite, Vmodians... have a Vape meet to attend tomorrow and sleep beckons.

I only have a gap on one side, LOL. That was a definite slip, or oops, or whatever, BUT it doesn't leak, so as long as my perfectionist a** keeps it covered it doesn't bother me :)

Hey I have aquestion for you, Did you take apart your Vmod and wash it after having it leak the first time out of the atty area? Or where the att y looks all wet? If not try washing the whole mod in some soapy water and allow to dry completely. Then reinstall the atty with the o-rings and vape the mod without the body on for a bit to see if there is still leaking out of that gap. I am thinking what has happened is that you may have flooded the atty one to many times and now the juice is coming down from the top through to the bottom and making it appear as though the juice is leaking out of that area, I had this happen to me so I can understand your frustration. I would also suggest that you pay real close attention to the o-ring that goes around the atty because that o-ring may be getting screwed down too far and coving the slits in the side of the atty/carto you are using. This is important because it will contribute to the leakage (or wet atty leakage) that I am speaking of. I had one heck of a time trying to reteach myself how to feed this mods chamber so I must say that since I was a bottom feeder owner already before this mod it had a negative impact on my ability to learn how to feed this mod:) Just don't squeeze too hard and really try to pay attention to the things I just mentioned. I hope this all helps and if you need anymore help feel free to PM me and I will help you out as much as I can. :)

Take Care all my Vmod fans and I will chat with you tomorrow:)

Vmod Help Needed for Newbie.
I think I'd like to try the Vmod (my first mod and this seems well liked & the "latest greatest" according to you vets) but am wondering if anyone can simplify the ordering process for me a little & recommend all parts that need to be ordered right away to make this work it's best and get the best deal-like the trade in/up or other coupon codes? Also, do I need to send in an old ecig first and have it arrive (is this company in China or U.S?) before I can get the 50% off discount? Afraid if I don't just ask I'll be sitting here not ordering anything for weeks...
Parts?:
Vapage v-mod $75 (-50% discount for trade in?)
AMG Hybrid - Bottom Feeder Atomizer (2-Pack) 1.5?? $17.50 Do you like the Universal or Bottom Feeder best & why?
Do I need to buy the batteries for this - 14500? or does it come with them? Are they rechargeable? I didn't see them listed in the what's included part... what about chargers? How long do batteries last?
Any other recommendations??
I've read through the forum but still don't understand the "big picture"...still lost in some of the "lingo".
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Washed it at least 6 times now, spent 3 hours yesterday vaping it with no shell on it so I could track down the leak. It would seem that even if you order one today (with the new chassis like mine), you still have to install the seal kit. Problem was that there wasn't a seal kit in my order, they are shipping one soon I think. Another fail mod benched.

Well Darhhhhling, I'm a country bumpkin not at all desired to get into LA traffic. Seriously, I get panic attacks. I could be down to LB in less time than you ;-)

Yes, fire is bad. Saw a family friend on the news last night. Lost his home and barn full of animals, most all of his dogs, It just came too quick.....tragedy and I am heartsick today.

PP, if you wait a couple of weeks I believe there will be a kit with everything you need except juice which they also now sell. Unknown price point.

If you can't wait, you can get the mod fro $60 w/code. All other supplies have another code for 15% off. Free shipping on orders over $50. I ordered the mod on one code and a separate order for supplies and got free shipping for both orders.

I can't advise on the trade up as I understood it was not for the Vmod, but others have reported differently.

You will need 14500 batteries & charger. Yes they are rechargeable. Batteries vary from 300-500 cycles depending on what you buy, so at 300 charges w/2 in rotation, you should have a good year of vaping. I would suggest 2 batts minimum and 3-4 better. The Vmod uses bottom feed attys. If you buy the universal, it will not feed (usable, but as a dripper).

Depending on what gear you are using now,1.5 ohm may be too hot for your taste. If you let us know, we can better advise there.

Hope that helps and ask away. This is a good group ;-)

Thank you Tierrataz! I may just wait a couple of weeks if there is a kit coming out... It would be nice if the site indicated what you need to purchase separately and explained the differences. I'm hoping to make sure I get the newest version to avoid the issues others noted with the ring etc. So the vmod uses just one battery at a time? I also don't see the 14500 batteries & charger for sale on their site ~ are these just bought at a local store? I've seen various brands of the AA Li-Ion and charger that you can purchase online~any of which should work with this right? Is there a recommended site to buy the vmod from or can you just get it on vapage? I'm uncertain about the ohm...indicates warmth level it seems...but haven't been doing this long enough to determine what would be my preference yet. My favorite set up so far is my monster atty with my ego 1000mah...but still don't get enough throat hit and haven't found a "great" menthol/mint yet. I've tried over 50 kinds/flavors~maybe just too picky. So...unfortunately still doing 1-2 analogs a day. I REALLY would like to find the right setup and juice so I can just totally quit the analog.
Note: I may need to change my user name...not real thrilled with "PP"! Ha! ;)
Thanks again.

Yes

They don't sell batteries or chargers.....yet.

are these just bought at a local store?
Not likely you'll find the 14500 battery at any local retail store unless they are a vape shop.

I've seen various brands of the AA Li-Ion and charger that you can purchase online~any of which should work with this right?
As long as its a 14500 battery, and a matching charger, then yes.

Is there a recommended site to buy the vmod from or can you just get it on vapage?
So far only available from Vapage

I'm uncertain about the ohm...indicates warmth level it seems...but haven't been doing this long enough to determine what would be my preference yet.
This is mostly correct....lower Ohm values also translate into more TH.

My favorite set up so far is my monster atty with my ego 1000mah...but still don't get enough throat hit and haven't found a "great" menthol/mint yet. Kepp at it with the vaping...you'll find the right combo!!

Great info, vapure. I need to bookmark this post (and your other one with similar info).

t-taz, I am truly sorry to hear that news. It's heartbreaking and disturbing. Sending good thoughts to you and yours.

Peg, (not PP, LOL), you can call Vapage as well to get more info if you don't find it here, but between all of us, we should be able to answer most any and every question. :)

Whether you order the Vmod now or wait for the kit, you will get the newest chassis, and you will most likely get a seal kit with it. Yes, the Vmod uses one 14500 battery at a time. It's good to rotate them, which is why t-taz suggested you get more than one. You can purchase them now, from other vendors, or you can wait until Vapage carries them (along with THE most adorable charger you have ever seen). Let us know if you don't want to wait and we can make more recommendations. There is a specific battery that is the most highly recommended for the Vmod right now (until Vapage offers theirs).

The Vmod is available thru Vapage.com.

Since you are unsure about oHms, you might want to start out with 2.0s. Better yet, get a variety of attys to see what you like.

Flavors are a funny thing. We have all gone thru the same as you (buying buying buying, and trying to find what we REALLY like). It's a process, for sure!

Gristle beat me to the post! LOL! :D
