Sounds to me like you are pushing the material you wrapped around the atty/ carto and the silicone seal when you screw in the cone. Too many wraps maybe? Or, you are wrapping the material too high up on the atty/ carto and the cone can't get a bite on the threads and causing the cone to cross-thread. I've had mine ( a black Vmod) for 2 months and the threads on my cone are still black. Very few leaks! A hot water bath takes care of them. Once the seal is breached by juice it like any other breached seal it will continue to leak until you get the liquid cleaned off and you have two dry surfaces to seal against. As for the soft aluminum of the cones it makes the Vmod kinda "idiot proof". If you had metal of the same hardness both sets of threads could get damaged. Instead of replacing the cone you would have to have a new chassis and a new cone. I for one would rather pay $24.95 for an Aluminum Case & Cone Replacement than $75.00 for a whole new Vmod..........

It's not "my method", it's very soft aluminum. All it takes is a couple times when you can't quite get it on easily, and one of yours will look like that too, because the material is soft enough you don't realize it. And what is this about tight tolerances, as in "precision", vs. zealousness and overcompensating? Why should everything that goes wrong get blamed on the user?

Agreed....the only way to make the cone look like that is through user error. Under normal usage it would never look like that. Making the mod work for you is great, but don't blame Vapage for not making the product good enough to withstand it being used in a manner in which it was not intended.

Would this work on a carto as well...? (did you try this on a carto?)

Some cartos are harder than others. Managed to do it on some old ones that aren't worth vaping, but The Ones That Must Not Be Named happen to be very difficult to separate so far. Most of my dead batteries are broken too now. Does anyone know the exact threading so that one could buy a female threaded something, stronger than an old battery? Ideas?

Meanwhile I've installed several atty types that way in the VMOD with good results. Best to not bend too far while separating or there's a layer that gets broken, as on the 2nd photo, though it doesn't make the atty not feed. Take it easy, a little bend at a time.

Point is: it works, no more "proprietary atomizers" argument. The fluting passes even 100% VG juice just fine and it comes up around the cup into the mesh, just as if it had been designed for it. Granted, with thick VG and a sealed chamber, you're working that little bottle.

Found one that's 2.2 Ohms, and that's darned good, for an atomizer. With the mesh/bridge keeping a little juice backup, it's easy to forget to squirsh, until The Taste. Fact is it IS that very atomizer, just like dripping, so if you like brand X atty, you should be able to have it on the VMOD. I think it's pretty significant, if you happen to like the VMOD, but not ... everything they make.
