The locking switch doesn't seem to work. It will twist & lock but the button still depresses just enough to fire & burn which it did in my coat pocket on Saturday. I took my coat off and piled it the backseat of my truck with my laptop bag. something must have been laying on it just right to fire it off. No major damage other than my only carto. It's toast. I knew I should have ordered extras!

I ordered the kit with the batteries and charger so it also came with a 2.0 ohm BF atomizer. No matter what I try, it tastes like metal!

On the battery, it depends on the size of positive terminal. Upside down always works. Just try to check the now down-facing battery terminal, that is makes a good connection with the bottom spring. Also if you have any contact cleaner, it's amazing what a smidge at critical spots will do, as e.g. the top spring/contact just rides against that top plunger.

There's a learning curve with the attys, they don't buffer up much juice. So it could be just that. Some people never like them. But there's also some critical info you must have, and that the hard-core fans don't like to talk about. Of the 4 attys I got, 3 had loose coils that don't properly contact the wick in spots. Check for glowing wire that is not immersed in liquid, by taking the tip off and watching when you press the button. If anything glows orange, it's either that 1) there is no juice, or 2) you have some loose coil wraps. Aside from tasting "nasty", this is an area where juice decomposes. Obviously the temp is very high. Any VG component tends to break down to acrolein, which tastes "nasty" and is toxic. Some people have had good luck pushing the offending coil wire down with e.g. a tiny screwdriver. In my case it only worked partially. If you have any with loose coils, I would return these defective attys, as in all fairness they not safe to vape. Vapage is actively revamping production to fix this.

If you look back over the last months' posts, and further, there are pictures and info on various ways to use common brands of atomizers and cartomizers, the simplest being to screw in a carto and then loosen it a bit so juice can enter down the threaded area.

The Vapage batteries have to go in upside down for the on/off switch to work correctly.

Ummm... missed that in the instructions!

I don't rinse out atty's with water -- I use Vodka or some atty cleaner I bought from a vendor.

As Vapage atty's have no primer in them I don't rinse first. I take out of the bag and let soak with several drops in it for a bit.

I'm thinking you had a water wet wick. That won't vape well---and greatly dilutes the juice, so there really wasn't juice on the coils. Just my guess. BTW, even after a Vodka rinse I let them sit overnight to dry.

Thanks for the help everyone. I'll give it a quick vodka bath and let it dry overnight. It possible it's wet. I'll also check to see if any of the coil is glowing. If not, I'll try to give Vapage a call. I shot them an email on Saturday about the safety switch and didn't hear back. Flipping the battery worked out fine though.

Took some of the words right out of my mouth, Tea. An atty rinsed with water takes much longer to dry than one soaked in a vodka bath. I'm still not sure that would account for the metal taste, but... with an 'undry' atty, the juice would not have the chance to soak into the coil area. Vapage attys like to be soaked with juice. In fact, way back when, the recommendation was to soak the atty in juice for at least 1/2 hour, or therabouts.

Try the vodka bath, blow out, let dry overnite, then give it a good splash of juice and let it sit for at lease that 1/2 hour. In that time you and your partner can discuss what color the next VMOD will be. :)

Fernand, oh Fernand. I have resisted posting anything directly to you, but feel now that I would like to. You said, "But there's also some critical info you must have, and that the hard-core fans don't like to talk about. Of the 4 attys I got, 3 had loose coils that don't properly contact the wick in spots."

I consider myself to be one of those 'hard-core fans', and yet I don't recall ever feeling as if I didn't like talking about something. Of all my Vapage attys, I never once had a problem with loose coils or problems with wicking problems. Had I, I would have contacted Vapage to find out what was going on. It troubles me that you think that because some of us really enjoy the mod that we don't see anything wrong with it. Somehow it seems that you liken us to robotic VMOD lovers with no clue as to what various problems with it might be. That is completely not the case. Before you got the mod and starting posting here, we all dealt with several issues. Those issues were addressed here, and with Brian. Changes were made and problems/dilemmas were solved. It is difficult for me to read your words as it really sounds to me like you are saying that some of us withhold the truth about this mod by not wanting to talk about certain things. If someone new comes on here and reads that, I would imagine that they would think that not much else we (those that enjoy the VMOD, or hard-core fans as you put it) have to say is true. This troubles me. I have a suspicion that is not your intent, but just wanted to give you my take as to how it comes across, to me.

By the way, I have also appreciated your sensibilities and cleverness in finding solutions to the problems you have encountered.

Vape it good~

My gawd, when will the piling on stop? As an 'outsider' that owns two V-Mods, I consider some of you shameless!

OK, so some of you gave inputs to get the V-Mod to where it is functionally... and promote the future needed improvements. Good for ya'll. But, someone else comes in and provides constructive criticisms with practical solutions and WHOA, "You're a hater", "You diss others", "Why are you here?", etc. Do you realize how small that appears to those mining V-Mod info prior to a purchase? Obviously not!

Truth be told, IMHO, an eGo batt and an eMDCC provides more flav and vapor than the V-Mod ever has for me. "Why do you have two V-Mods if that's the way you feel?", you may ask. 'Cause I like the style, ergonomics, convenience and a satisfactory vape. But some of you...

BTW, if one was to check what Fernand has posted elsewhere in the ECF about the V-Mod, ya might appreciate his evaluation and give him credit due!

Kat, I'm not trying to polarize anything, and neither are you. You're not that kind. Thank you for that. The fact remains that I'm a Vmod user, but I'm pretty objective about its pros and cons, or more accurately the virtues and problems of the two I have here. It's not the only device I use. I've put in time and effort to address issues for those who contemplate buying one (and anticipate some of the issues), or got one, have run into the same problems I had, and are looking for solutions. On no other internet forum have I ever run into fans who decry any mention of a commercial product's shortcomings as "disrespectful", or labeled any less than 5 star subjective impression (even explicitly labeled as such) as "tactless" and address every problem as the user's fault, or as one of the everything that has long been solved (see posts 2862000 to 2863548 of the year 1203 B.C.). It's one of the more unusual traits of the Vmod, that it comes with such an entourage, tiny as it might be. I'm regularly reminded of the more personal of the above, so as long as I'm being reminded, they must be doing it for a good reason, and so please pardon my mentioning it. I don't think it's misleading to say that some of the hardcore fans, as in a minority, consider it improper to mention any problem, will even say so, and you know that's true. Somebody who's having a battery fit problem and burned taste should have been honestly warned ASAP about the loose coils first and foremost, because that's a critical health hazard, and not only incidentally told to put his battery in upside down as if that were a factory design decision.

Ego Mega Dual Coil Cartomizer. 3.5 ml capacity dual vertical coil excellent taste great vapor 1.7 ohms 510 carto. $3 last a month+. Designed for eGo, though a little hard on an eGo battery.

Echo-e is the other leading large capacity 510 carto, 2.5 ml horizontal single coil 2.6 ohm, great vapor, not quite as strong a taste as EMDCC, but runs for many hours on an eGo battery. $3 last a month+. Also comes in dual horizontal coil 2.2 ohms.

I've been away from this thread for quite a while, so I might have missed it. Did anyone who had gotten partial orders due to bottles and some other things being back ordered ever get the remainder of their order delivered? I emailed CS when it happened and was told they'd be shipping it when they arrived. I e-mailed again last week but no reply. I figured I'd hit them again next week, but I was just curious if stuff is still back ordered or I may have gotten lost in the shuffle.
