Well shoot.

I joined up for the information, and to be able to ask a few questions and to be able to join the contests, and to maybe help answer a few questions and to...

BUT, I have to have 5 posts to be able to do most anything around the rest of the forum. As does any one else. So...

I have seen Welcome Wagon posts on other forums. They give new members a place to start, without having to start a "New Member Here" thread or invade somebody else's thread.

I am a mid 40's guy with 25 years of smoking behind him. A guy at work had one of the Joye 510's and explained what he knew about it. Bein the info-nerd that I am, I had to know all I could find out about it, which led me here.
I have been analogue free for 7 weeks, now. My breathing has improved. My senses of smell and taste have returned. I can walk upstairs without serious huffing and puffing. Over all, I just feel better, and feel better about myself for conquering the evil Cigarettes.

I look forward to being a part, however small, of this community.

Thanks,

Kirk

Thanks for the Hello, Folks!

I love these things. I seem to vaguely remember hearing about electronic cigarettes a few years ago, but the information didn't really register until my buddy showed me his 510.
I not only converted, I got my wife to convert, too. She still smokes an occasional cigarette, but for the most part uses her 510 auto. I can certainly tell when she fires up, tho.

Welcome and congratulations! Although that feels a little presumptuous since you're actually a few weeks ahead of me...

This place is an info-nerd's dream, isn't it? Pictorial tear-downs and video howtos and a breakdown of real-world battery behaviours, oh my! I was registered here for 2 weeks before I discovered my brand-of-choice manufacturers even had forums, and ECF has nearly as much model-specific info as they do. And that's for a frequently-sneered-at model.

I don't know what the weather is like in your part of Texas, but here on the Gulf Coast I was pretty grateful to get my fixes indoors last week. This will be my first summer in 20 years without ducking outside in August every 2 hours. There's something to look forward to. :D

After a first couple of peeks in the modder's forum, I've personally declared that place off-limits! :danger: My wife would kill me if I started disassembling anything. lol

I'm Gulf Coast, too. I live just north of Beaumont. Highs up near 90 last week, and humidity up where it's supposed to be. If you can't chew the air before you swallow it, what's the point? Plus, we get all of the extra vitamins from the refineries in Port Arthur!
You'll never hear me complain about the heat. It's COLD weather I hate. I'd never survive anywhere north of Dallas.

We have heat here but it's a drier heat. Desert area east of the Cascades. Even with the dry I can't handle much more than 85 and even then have to be in the shade!!!

Fortunately, my roommate was informed that I am an evil genius long before he moved in, so as long as nothing actually explodes, i should be okay. And if anything explodes... well, that's why the area around the workbench is wrapped in plastic sheeting! *grin*

I had to declare it off-limits because after a week or so in there I would no longer be able to pay rent.

Ah, so you know the kind of August I'm looking forward to dodging - direct sunlight would light an analog for you if the air hadn't soaked it through first.

I'm with you on the cold; I can happily survive most temperatures below 105F, but anything below 75F makes me shiver. I swear cold air feels like being dipped in acid, and my definition of "cold" is apparently somewhat skewed.

I,too, am working on my 5 posts. I haven't bought a pack of cogs since January. I tried one last week, but couldn't finish it because it tasted so bad. I have tried the patch and gum--no luck. Vaping is the only thing that has worked for me.

About a 4 days after I got my 510, I had a bad stress moment and lit up one of the half pack I had left over. 3 drags on it, and I threw it out. NASTY!!. That was the last analog I had. I'm hoping like hell the FDA isn't successful. I REALLY don't want to go back to smoking.

The people at work laugh at me for my coat when it's 60 degrees out. Cold wind burns, dammit, and this was a long winter. God hates me?

Anything over 70 degrees and I am in danger of sweating.
Anything over 80% humidity and I want to kill myself.

What can I say, I've lived my whole life on the coast in San Diego.
:D

Cold weather, though?
Yeah, I can handle cold weather no problem.

I can wear shorts in 30 below South Dakota winters.
Go figure!!!
:)
