Yea I know. Get with the times nico we're suppose to be using the metric system.:D At least that's what they been telling me for the last 40 years. Go to the hardware store and try to buy some metric copper pipe and they'll look at your like your some kind of nut job.

Yea that needle is over 2mm in diameter. A tad to big. I have a feeling this is going to suck the heat away like crazy. Can't wait to try it though.

I dont think it will suck the heat away, since the wrapped wire will be the contact point. I would use the nichrome wire, or the thinest you can. It will warm up but the space for the fluid will be reduced in effect raising the temp faster that a larger pool of liquid.

Well, either my calipers at work just plain suck or the inside of this tubing is not concentric and uniform all the way through cause I can't get this spiral wire down through there. I can't really see but maybe there is some crap burnt and stuck to the wall of the tube where the coil is located. Oh wait.... no I just checked this with the unused tube and it won't go. I'll have to get some finer wrap wire to do the spiral.

At any rate.... I removed the spiral wrap and just ran the wire down through there by itself and....... it kickes some major ........... It takes a little more power, but once that tube and inner wire heats up it works just as well as the stock wizard heater. So now I need to come up with a good coil design that spreads the heat a little better across more area and add the spiral wetting wire. Then we should be good to go.

The ole lady is going out of town for a week on Wed so I'll be able to mess this place up as much as I want for a few days. Now going on the hunt for the right size wire. I'm sure I have some here somewhere but might take me a week to find it. maybe to be safe I'll order some.:)

Have any of you Mad Scientists ever checked out Mini Fog Machines?

Seems like the next step...

Yes but not practical for a vaporer.. or maybe so if you want something that takes 5-10 minutes to heat using 120V AC and then blow tons of vapor in your face at 400 degrees. Sorry but the quick answer would just have been yes I have and no, not interested.

Charged Wish I had a dollar in the bank everytime I got tired of an idea I had a new process I thought I could make better . Or maybe just the money I spent on them, lol. You did some really good work on the design and pushed the envelope on figuring out what it did and how . I really enjoyed looking to see what you figure things on it out from day to day on this thing . I hope you will continue to tinker on it, and other Ideas to my delight and amusement .You do good work and we all appreciate it here. Thanks ;)

Thanks guys. Glad you're enjoing the thread. I'm not going to give up until I have at least something that works realatively well. Maybe someone can run with what we learn and make it better.

I still have the Wizard guide on my docket and will get something up as soon as I can. Work has placed some extra items on my plate so I have been doing some of it on my own time. Not only that, but I have some other personal projects going as well so it's hard to fit it all in.

I have another house full of folks tonight to see the misses off so I'll be wrapped up with that. Tomorrow night I'll be free to get some more updates. Thanks again for the nice comments.

Hi natura, It's nice to hear from you. Yes, was a great day today. Can't wait for some more of this fine weather.

OK, ding...ding...ding...round 4:

Wound a new nichrome coil. Used 34 awg and increased length to spread out the heat a little. Total resistance 6.5 ohms. This should work well with the AA rechargeable batteries I'm using in the Wizard.

For the wetting/filler wire I decided to just stay with a straight 20awg (0.812mm dia.) wire since it works so well and holds itself inside the 1mm ID tube with just a couple slight bends. Plus I was worried that a spiral wrap may get gunked up and become hard to remove from the tube for cleaning.

This is with the wetting wire installed.

Damn Youtube is giving me a hard time tonight (could of had this up 2 hours ago).
Finally the test.

Overall I'm pretty happy with the performance. As far as vapor, It's just as good or maybe a little better than the stock "generator". Tomorrow I'll see if I can get a connector of some sort on the coil wires and install it in a stock wizard.

Did you do that test in the bathroom so you could get the fire out easier or was you afraid you might loose control of your bodily functions if it got out of hand??:lol::lol:

Nah, I needed a place with an exhaust fan. If I didn't have the fan on you wouldn't have been able to see anything after the 1st couple blasts.:D
