Does sound good Charged. The only reason I haven't bought one yet is I am working on an atty for my own JB type PV. I'm just trying different concepts that don't incorporate a wick and modular to be easily replaceable. My office/workshop is beginning to look like an electronics store exploded with all the stuff I have torn apart and half assembled. It would be great to get that thing reduced to a smaller package. That tube setup has taken control of my curiosity for sure.

Your singing to the choir bro. I have at leat 5 electronic projects going at any 1 time. I have just about every measurement instrument/test instrument you can think of strewn throught my house and shop. Network analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscopes, power supplies, you name it and I have it. Been doing electrical design and developmet for more than 20 years. Smoking kept me somewhat sane as I could use it for relaxation. Now that I've quit that nasty habit I'm looking to keep an even keel and not think about it, therefor looking for alternatives to what I have been subjected to as it lacks in many repsects. We will eventually get it but will take some time. This is just experimenting and learning.

Yes SV I received the PM thank you.

It appears some WIZARDRY has occured during the evening hours.
The completely clogged Wizard has returned to service.:D

Clean as a whistle and performing like new. I am ecstatic. The distilled vinegar soak overnight did the trick. Looked in the bottom of the glass and see many small black and brown particles in there.

Rinsed the exhaust tube with tap water. Rinsed the fill chamber with distilled water, gave it a couple pumps to flush the metal tube. Filled with my trusty peach Dakang and...... bingo huge vapor plume.

I feel much better now as I know the clog is repairable.

HALALUJAH!!!!!!!!!!!!
Preach it on the mountain, Brother!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Guess I'm going to the store for some distilled vinegar!:D

Clumsy...are you grasping at the grass to keep from falling off the earth yet?

LOL...no, not yet Nico. Getting over pneumonia here..and honestly i'm afraid it would knock me out at the moment.

I am doing much better...so, maybe at the end of the week I can quit looking at this package and venture into " blast" territory with the wizard.

It's good to know that the vinegar / water treatment cleaned out the atty...so, im thinking that may be something that I may just schedule on a weekly basis to keep this thing going.

Yep..i agree...we're all crazy :)

I have some good information. There is no nicrome wire used for heating in this design, good stuff coming, but....... I need my IR camera to explain it all. If your device is clogged don't throw it out!! I'm working on a solution. Should have camera back soon. Will post updates by next weekend.

Hope you feel better soon! I agree, too much to try with pneumonia! When you do try it, go for a mild flavor (no mints or anything) and a much lower nic level than you're used to. Otherwise, you'll probably end up on the floor gasping for air LOL! I went for a strong mint choc. chip and I STILL haven't been able to finish the very small amount I put in that thing LOL! It was great in my 510...but in the Wizard...WHOA BABY!

Sorry to hear Clumsy...get better first for sure...that's nothing to take lightly.

Charged...Ah ha! Now were getting somewhere...I hope. :p
Nichrome on copper tube just wasn't making sense. Ill bet on either a heating element wrapped around like a coffee pot or hot water heater or one of those ceramic and printed circuit heater elements. Damn..now I gotta join the waiting list instead of reading about them! ;) Oh well...at least I wont be on the complaining list...or did I just do that?

Ok, my finances have finally recovered enough for me to order one for myself! Yes! I'll probably have it in my hot little hands by the end of the week. Exciting.

Charged, you deserve some kind of e-cig medal, or modder award for all this work. I don't even have mine yet and I'm incredibly grateful for all the great information you've provided.

I'll be sure to weigh in with my detailed report after I give it a test run. Cheers!

Butch, you will not be disappointed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Suggestion:
Make sure to read the entire thread before taking off with the Wiz. Charged has done a great deal of groundwork for us.
I am currently 'breaking in' a new one, as the first one appears dead from homebrew 'baccy juice clogging. I'm running pure distilled water through it to get the 'smells-just-like-a-new-car' odor out of it. So far, it has taken 3 refills and is starting to smell neutral.
Yes! I think Charged does deserve an e-cig-modder's award for excellence!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BTW Charged, I have not tossed the first fog-...., am eagerly awaiting your findings on possible resurrection juju.....Soaked it in pure distilled vinegar for 3 days, the black tar on the outside of the tube was then able to be pushed off with a small stick, but the interior remained clogged-no fog(!). Will probably try vinegar and baking soda in the fill tank, will report if anything comes of it.
And WCGirl, hope you feel well soon!

Thanks for the positive comments butch and asd.

I am still a bit puzzled as to the atomizer operation. Below you will see a cutaway view of the atomizer section. The entire tube seems to be a resistive heater, there is a small wire simply wrapped from the base of the tube and tucked in the top of the tube next to the glass tube. I actually broke this small wire in the center. Without this small wire I can still heat the tube just fine with about 1 amp of current. I measured the resistance of the thin wire and I get zero ohms, so I don't think it is nichrome wire.

It seems as though, when the metal tube heats the glass tube expands more than the metal tube and pinches the thin wire essentially shorting the metal heating tube and controlling the temperature. I have found that if the temperature of the tube is not controlled, you can get the tube too hot and will block the fluid from exiting the tube and atomizing.

I really need to get some thermal images of this tube to figure out exactly how it is controlling the temperature. I know it's not the circuit board doing it.
