I'm getting quite fed up. New 510 PT arrived Xmas eve day. Worked like a charm for my 4 days off from work.

Unplugged it and took it to work with me today and it worked just fine. End of work and I come home, plug it into the same USB portII had it in all weekend, and 3 hits and ...........

dead.......tried the atty on a battery, and it was fine so it wasn't that.

That is 3 PT's that have lasted 2 weeks or less. What is the deal here?

I knew there was another thread about letting it "catch up" but I can't find it anywhere, only one that references it. I ask...catch up to what?

I'm hoping to salvage this PT.

I've had three - two Janty's and 1 from heaven gifts that's lasted 6 months, but have seen similar reports. I suppose you could check connections with a multimeter - make sure it's not just the battery. Best is to send them back to where you bought them and perhaps buy from someone else. You might try running them from a usb wall plug - not really recommended to run on a computer anyway.

I went through three 510 PTs before I got one that worked, and so far it's been working fine with heavy use for over two months using a wall USB adapter that puts out 1000mA. The first one I got worked for a few days before the switch gave out. The second had a switch that was bad from the git-go, and the third had a battery holder that got too hot to touch shortly after plugging it in. I think you just have to get lucky with the damn things.

I ventured into this vapeing world for 2 reasons. 1) the cost savings, and 2) an alternative to the 4000+ carcinogens in tobacco smoking.

To have to buy replacements for defective parts is NOT a cost savings. To replace worn out parts...sure.

If I had it in my budget I'd get get the PS bypass and each adapter for the 510,801 and 901 atty.

After nearly 3 months analog free, I'm starting to get truly frustrated.

Same problem. I've had a 510 PT from Totally Wicked that has lasted about 6 months but seems to be fading (not a complaint). Recently ordered a spare/replacement from Eastmall that died within days. Shipping was such an issue on way out that I'm not even going to bother returning for a $15 item.

I just got a Silver Bullet to bypass the whole issue.

I'm curious about two things: If you got a great performing PT from Totally Wicked, why not reorder from them? The second thing is regarding the 'fading'.
There isn't much that can 'fade' with a 510 PT except the battery. Did you try replacing the battery?

I got a 510 manual passthrough from rockymountainvapor.com about a month ago, and it works fine. I am not sure if it is the same one you have tried. Maybe you could look into those. It also has a battery in-line so it does not have to be plugged in to work. GL and Hope you can find somehthing that works for you.

Same thing just happened to me! I had a 2 week old passthrough die Christmas Eve. No reason I can find - others have died because the wires became frayed - but it was getting a lot of use that night. Should I try plugging it in and just let it charge a bit? i never thought that maybe the battery just died from draining. Does anyone know what kind of batteries those are and where to get replacements?

I know Monique at Widowsbeadwork has the replacement batteries for five bucks with no shipping cost. I always figured I'd get one from her when mine died. I never use just the battery in my 510 PT, it's always plugged into a power source either at home or in the car. Don't know how long a battery will last when it's never actually required to do anything but complete a circuit.

I had the same problem, I would use it till it was dry.

THEN I plugged it in to an old USB 1.x on an old P4 lappy.

It fried, although I didn't realize until I had drained the batt and it never charged again.

I took it apart to find that the circuit board had a burn mark on it, and smelled as such.

I don;t have a problem with the USB Passthrough that is chip/boardless. Button box, button, wires, USB, and dead batt connector. ALL GOOD!

I'm frustrated too. Too many parts dying all the time.

My 1 week old passthrough just died yesterday afternoon.
Worked fine then all of a sudden the cartomizer started steaming and passthrough was dead.

These parts are too expensive especially with most shipping charges to have to keep ordering them all the time. Never mind always worrying whats going to break next. :(

I use the kr808 with cartomizers because atomizers kept dying on me all the time.

I was hoping to save money too but that isn't working out at all. I just added what I bought for e-cig "supplies" this month and it's more than I would have paid for cigarettes. How depressing.
