There's nothing like a new coil!

All my tanks use the same BCC, evod type. That includes my protank II, Hypertank and the rest that I've managed to aquire in the past 7 weeks. The coils with scorched wicks need to be rebuilt. Those that aren't scorched I've cleaned by boiling, running under hot water, dry burn and or cleaning with a denture tablet. All the methods work about the same but, in MY opinion, there's nothing as good as a new replacement. Just sayin'!! :2c:

I may try cotton for wicks on the next rebuild and see how that works.

If you are currently using silica you can dry burn the wicks as well. It will not scorch with a coil unless you are running more power than most. It comes out white and pristine. Just leave the wick in there and dry burn it will look horrible at first and smoke quite a bit. BUt when it quits smoking blow the ash off and rinse with alcohol or water and re-assemble.

I agree. I just got a brand new evod yesterday and have been vaping it ever since and man you can't beat it. Sooo much vapor and I'm only running 3.3v to it. How long do your coils usually last before they require some cleaning or replacing? I am new to all of this bcc stuff.

3.3v? Not long before they start to clog up from partially heated e-liquid.
I'm running an Evod/2.4ohm/4v. 4th tank and fresh as new. Did a simple rinse and dry after tank 3 to change flavors.

I think more people get into more trouble running them too hot, too fast, burning liquid components into the coil almost immediately. You can't "un-burnt" it by dropping the voltage after the fact.

New PT coil on day three now. 2.2 ohms, 3.1 volts.

Thanks for this! The post you quoted had me worried at first. I prefer a cool vape and usually have my 2.2 ohms set at 3.2/3.4 volts. This has worked for me but I am new so what do I know?

Yeah it had me worried too. I am running whatever coil comes with the evod on my 3.3v regulated batteries and on my twist in a rotation. I was starting to worry I wasn't giving it enough power and was going to have problems. I hope I won't because so far I love this evod. This is only my second day with it. For the past 5 weeks I've been using my stock ego-c setup with the ego-c cartridges and this evod blows that away!

I just replaced the silica wicks with cotton in my original heads after 100+ days. I don't vape any dark, thick or sweet liquids so mine last quite a bit longer than normal. I soak mine overnight in vodka when the vapor production declines, then rinse and air dry before putting back in rotation. From the 5 I just rebuilt with cotton, only 1 had a broken coil. I am not into making my own coils yet so it went into a "someday" box.

I tried dry burning the silica wicks but it was just nasty. I don't expect the cotton to last as long as the silica but because of the increased flavor & vapor production; I still think it's a big upgrade. Also, the price for one head is about the same as a lifetime supply of cotton.
