If you want to use a strip tester like the one that used to come with some AA batts (and you can find one), use a resistor divider to put it in the range it needs. For example, if you wanted it to read full scale at 4.2V, you could use a 6k and 10k resistor. You wouldn't be able to solder wires to a strip tester, but you could probably figure out a way to clamp it in. Conductive wire glue might work. It would need a switch since you wouldn't want it on all the time.
