In my area, with all the kids looking to blow massive clouds, almost everyone just goes to the local vape shops gets a mod and battery (without knowing anything about batteries) has the shop wrap the coils for them and then off they go. They know nothing about the dangers of their builds. The shop always wraps dual coil 3 wraps of 28 (which is like .3-.5ohms usually right?) and these kids just vape till basically the batteries are so low it doesnt actually produce vapor. This is a rant, i apologize, but it just bugs me. Is anyone else experiencing this "fad" in their area

I should also add, as a personal experiment, i went into this same B&M with my mod equipped in 18350 mode. Had them wrap it and... he built the same dual 3 wrap coils (.4 when i tested it back home), and he didnt mention anything about battery safety or limits. He probably doesnt even know!

I see it almost every time I walk into a B&M here in Socal. One place builds them for free with purchase but makes you sign a waiver. So I asked why are you doing that and the employee tells me that they had someone try to sue them because they built them a setup that was unsafe. So I asked what was the usual resistance of the builds and he says he didn't know. He just wraps them and off they go in their dual 3 wrap coil with a 18350 battery.

Overheard something like that in a vape shop. Doesn't really scare me because you can buy a gun most places just as easily and the seller basically tells you "Don't tell me what you're going to do with this. I don't need to know and you don't need to tell me." Buying an e-cig probably won't bum my day if someone else's face is on the wrong end of a venting. Of course, if they start a fire, they could burn me and family and my house down. I think I will worry a little about that. Just encourage everyone to do as much research here as they can. Someone just made a great thread for new members with tons of great info all in one place but not I forget the name because I think it changed. It was first called One Stop Noob Shop.

You should see what the kids around The Bay Area are blowing themselves up with. Every week. Funny, our local Ted Baxter news anchor still reads the word and pronounces it "boo-tan." You can guess something of what these idiots are doing a'la Breaking Bad, not for the scope of this forum, but kids will build their own nukes if they could get the materials and download plans on the internet.

If something happens I wonder who'll be held liable....the vape shop???????

I do believe that 18 or older should be able to enter a Vape Shop....no one under 18 allowed.

"you" is an abstract reference. I am not referring to keonee.**

If ya buy a corvette and wrap it around a tree because you didn't know what you were doing, it's your fault, not Chevrolet's.

It you blow your face off because you didn't know what you were doing with your vape it's YOUR fault.
Don't place blame for your stupidity on the shop owner.
Shops are not required to educate you. That's your job.

Darwinism at work. Evolution. The dumb die off.
Happens everyday in nature.

Only a fool would jump into anything like this without educating themselves.
It is not the publics responsibility to cover the asses of the foolish

The liability rests 100% in the user/buyer.

100% agree. What's next, holding supermarkets responsible for the obesity problem in USA?

If you buy and use something, regardless what it is, it's your responsibility to use it safely. I wounder though if the vape shop should at least make people aware of the risk.

Some shops do, as a courtesy.
Most assume people aren't stupid and know what they are spending hard earned cash on.

Too many people today do not take responsibility for their own actions.
They want to blame others for their mistakes.
This is a prime example

Common sense would dictate educating oneself before purchasing.
Lazy people just run out and buy the latest fad just to be "hip/cool" and hope for the best.

I say let em do it.
Thin the herd!!!

It is the users fault...but the fact that the shop doesnt atleast educate or warn the user isnt okay. People trust these places because they think the shop knows what to do. You have to admit, ecigs dont really give off a sense of being possibly dangerous and people have to be educated that they can be

If you buy a corvette and it wraps around a tree because it came with tires that are unsuited for it, then it falls on the person who sold it with said tires.

While I personally don't think vape shops should be liable for mods / coils, I do think they should educate about proper safety. If it's someone they've never seen before, and they sell them an 18350 mod and a pre-built .3ohm setup, that's just a jerk move.

One B&M near me won't even build sub ohm coils for people. The will make you a dual coil, but will check and make sure it is above 1 Ohm.

It isn't their responsibility to make sure everyone knows everything to a t, but they should at least make sure people have some knowledge of what they are doing so they don't kill themselves. Why bring more negative attention to the vaping community.

I don't see it much here in Florida; but I've heard it's common practice in other places, such as SoCal. It's a pet peeve of mine. Personally, I don't believe shops should be offering coil wrapping service for customers, particularly sub-ohm.
Occasional coil building seminars, including battery safety; I'm all for it.

Is this the Same Vape Shop that has that Personal Injury Lawyer standing outside passing out Business Cards?

I respectfully disagree. If the seller misrepresented the tires as suited for it or disguised them as such, then yes it's on the seller. But if you are buying a vehicle (especially a performance vehicle) tires should be looked at by the buyer. Same applies to vaping, etc...
