They are fudging the numbers.

Each year 2.6 million people die within the usa which are caused by heart disease, cancers, lower respiratory disease, stroke, Alzheimer's, diabetes, and finally accidents.

Roughly 1/5 of the population smokes and roughly 1/5 of the 2.6 million people that die are smokers. yet, it is to my surprise that smoking still causes 500,000 deaths each year according to their statistics, which is roughly 1/5 of all deaths.

Do they expect me to believe that smoking has a 100% mortality rate, yet they are dying at roughly the same proportion as none smokers each year? To put it frankly, I am CON-FUS-ED.

What they are doing is saying smoking is related to heart disease, cancers, strokes, lower respiratory disease, diabetes and if you did die of one of these diseases and you do smoke then you must have died from smoking, diseases which coincidentally is exactly how everyone else dies.

As a matter of fact, the life expectancy of a smoker is approximately 7 years less than a none smoker at just under 10%. With my limited mathematical experience I would expect the mortality rate to be closer to 10% for smokers which leads me to the conclusion that only 50,000 people die in the USA from smoking each year.

Don't be at all surprised to find statistics in the future for vaping that border on the absurd. Perhaps vaping will kill more people annually than the entire population of vapers. Who knows.

Its been estimated that 100,000 people each year die related to medical malpractice. The only way to protect yourself is to double check the medical communities science and speak out when it is bad science. Don't let them perscribe you with something when the science indicates that you can skip the harmful effects of smoking and prescription drugs by vaping.

Statistics can always be skewed to show the results you are looking for. That 10% is an average. Doesn't mean if you continue to smoke you will only lose 10% of your life. My grandmother lived to be 82 while smoking, both maternal grandparents passed in their 70s and smoked most of their lives. But my mom died of lung cancer at 54.

I suspect the numbers will continue to worsen, as we see more and more people getting sicker, younger.

Yet as our population continues to live longer than previous generations, it can't be that we are dying from old age, now could it? George Burns lived to be just over 100 and he had a cigar ALL the time. Bette Davis smoked heavily and she lived to be 81 and was still a smoker.

People are alive way longer now than ever before but yet there were more smokers in that generation that are living longer. Talk about confusing! The anti smokers are contributing any sickness that a person may get to smoking. Whether it is true or not. So if someone gets heart disease if that person happens so smoke then automatically the heart disease is attributed to the fact that the person smoked. Is it even remotely possible that the person was genetically going to get heart disease regardless of the fact they smoked?

I'm not saying that smoking is not bad for you. I'm just pointing out that there might just be contributing factors, other than smoking, to health issues.

My sister's friend did an anti-smoking commercial because his wife died of a smoking disease (lung cancer). Problem is she never smoked. Yet they still had him lie for their propaganda machine.

They say smoking gives you colon cancer. The truth is NOT taking nicotine increases your odds of Ulcerative Colitis which in turn increases your risk of colon cancer. Nicotine provides a protective barrier to UC.

They have no morals. They would rather you die living how they want than live living how you want.

Well, let me see... My grandfather smoked cigars and I used to sit watching tv with him while he smoked them. My father smoked 2 pad from the age of 10 until his early 80's indoors. My mother lived with him until he died at age 83 and breathed "second hand" smoke all her adult life. She died of old age at 87. I also breathed second hand smoke from the day I was born and started smoking myself at age 17. I smoked for more than 40 years and just quit when I started vaping last year. I had a chest x-ray because the doctor couldn't figure out why I was in so much pain and said you have emphysema. On the spot, I demanded to have a chest x-ray. My lungs were clear. The pain was from a kidney infection (which he kept misdiagnosing). I am now 64, soon to be 65 in July.

By all intents and purposes I should be dead by now, yet here I am. Something is for sure, we're ALL going to die in the end regardless of whether we never smoked, ate "healthy," or (add latest health fad). I have not met anyone who has fooled the cycle of life and death yet.

Many of these same people are trying to convince us that PEOPLE are responsible for climate change when the truth is the Earth has undergone both warming and cooling periods long before man ever walked the face of the Earth. I mean we all learned about how wooly mammoths walked the icy tundras of North America in history class right? Did they cause the planet to warm up by using hairsprays with chlorofluorocarbons (CFC's)? Did they pollute the air by driving around in gas guzzling Hummers? Of course not. I am wondering why anyone still believes these liars or anything they say.
