So I was having some issues with my coils and wicks.. sometimes they would work for months, other times for a day or less, so I did 2 things.

1) I stopped lighting my wire up red before wrapping the coil

2) I put a very very thin layer of cotton around the coil area on the wick

These 2 things really did it for me.

The only thing now is, I'm wondering how to go about cleaning and/or replacing the coil. I know I shouldn't dry burn the coil if there's cotton on it, and it's kind of hard to pull all the cotton off once it's on the wick (Maybe you could burn it off?) - so what do you guys do when you need to clean the gunk off? Is just replacing the coil enough or does the cotton gunk up?
