Thinging of getting a GLV2 to replace...

I won't go into details, but I've been using a Prodigy V1 since it came out, but it is finally on its last legs. I also have the V2, but have never been able to get it to work consistently due to the many switch-related issues involving that model...

So, I'm thinking of getting a GLV2, but I have a few questions first...

1. Can it use the LiFePo4 RCR123a batteries I currently use for my Prodigy?

2. Since the 5v model uses a resistor, will it eventually go out like the ones in the Prodigy V1 do? I've had to have the resistor replaced several times, and I'm not looking forward to having to continue in a similar manner with a new PV. I want something that just works. All the misfiring and no-firing I've had to put up with have me at my wits' end as it is.

3. Are there any gotchas I should be aware of when it comes to the GLV2?

I have a 5v GLV2 and my good friend buys PVs from Pure smoker.He has the protege,prodigy,and an icon.I have not had any issues or even misfires with the GLV2 and he has alot of switch issues and alot of misfiring with all 3 of his units.I think the GLV is made better.Much more sturdy.PS units are very pretty,but they just dont do it for me.GLV is a vapor work horse,and Jay stands behind it.He covers the whole unit.THE WHOLE UNIT!!

I have to say, I have 3 of these GLV only because I like to lend them out to friends to get them into vaping instead of smoking.
now with the answers that I know I can answer.
LiFePo4 batteries they do say their safe and all. The best battery most GLV users use is the AW rcr123A they are the best.

I have never heard of a GLV resister going out. (but Jay would be the best to tell you that one) I have NEVER had a misfire or a non-fire with this military grade button (good for over 1 million clicks)

No Gotchas at all. I do have to say this though. Jay and Sara are great people and the GLV has a LIFETIME guarantee on it. a life time is a long time. lol

Hope this helps. It really is worth the money. Heck it's less than most so called hi end mods out there.

You could even run this thing over with a truck. I wouldn't recommend it though cause that would scratch it. But I bet it would still work.

The GLV will work with Lifepo4 123a 3v but they arent the batts to use. You want to use the 3.7 16340s in it. Makes all the difference in the world. AW 16340 are best. Use the best. You wont be sorry you did..

Yes, I have had 4 GLVs and they are tanks and have never had a resistor in them needing to be changed out.

Well Ultimist, I don't think you'll find a better switch in any PV than the one in the GLV. I've been following this forum for a good 7 months or so and haven't seen resister issues come up more than a couple times and those were taken care of immediately. Jay is a real stand up guy and takes that lifetime warrantee seriously. He sells a lot of these puppies one or two failed resistors out of a thousand ain't bad. People get bad regulators occasionally too. I haven't had any issues with mine but if I did I know that jay would make it right as quickly as humanly possible.
Also be aware that you can get the GLV2 with a beautiful wooden marquetry veneer on it.

I've cleaned all the parts and used Naolox, but my Janty Kissbox USB thingy is working better. I'm also using lots of juice as I flood it over and over trying to get a good, consistent vape. Its that switch, I'm sure. I've already ordered the GLV2....

I have the Mini and the GLV2 with 3.6v and 5.0v head caps. I just got the 3.6v and it is perfect for cartomizers. I love this thing, the quality of construction is top notch. I haven't used any of my other e-cigs since I first got the Mini and I doubt I'll be using much else since I got the 3.6.

This is just a personal preference for me, I think the 5v hits a little too hot on cartomizers and I tend to get a lot of juice 'spitting' into my mouth at higher volts. The 3.6 hits really nice without getting too hot or juice in my mouth. I'm sure others like the higher volts for cartomizers...

I use 'em all the time at 5V. The vapor is warm and there's a lot of it. Really good TH too. 5V is as high as I'd want to go with a 2.5Ω carto though. That's pulling 10 watts. I have a drip style 510 cart from Ikenvape that is heaven at 5V. I think the resistance on those are a bit higher than 2.5 though.
I'll drip into various attys while I'm having coffee in the mornings and then switch to cartos for the rest of the day.

Is that one of your wood vaneers? How do they hold up to exposure to juice? Looks like I should wear a Meerschaum glove to vape with it.... just out of respect.

Yep. That one is maple burl with a walnut triskel celtic knot. I finish them with poly acrylic and spilled juice doesn't seem to effect it. mine is a little dented up from dropping it repeatedly on the rough concrete floor of my shop but I guess you can't expect wood to be as hard as powder coat. It's pretty though. Makes a nice show PV.
