I have several APVs I really like, and I do like carto tanks. But for the past few months I've really been thinking about getting a bottom feeder. I looked at the Boge Revolution, but am uncertain about it because I don't see anyone talking about them. I've also looked at the VMOD at Vapage...even signing up for their newsletter in the hopes of getting a good coupon. I'm most interested in the VMOD XL, as the 9ml. bottle appeals to me. I'm a heavy vaper, and am pretty sure that would easily get me through an average day of sitting around at the laptop.

So here are my questions:
They supposedly take "any 510 cartomizer/atomzier". So I could use my 2ohm SC XL Boge (45mm) cartos? Or not?
Where could I find these legendary 306 atomizers I see talked about on the YouTube videos? And do they REALLY last and are easy to use? I don't really have a "dripper" mentality, but with the bottom feeder, maybe it would work out? You think? And what's involved with cleaning them? Do you have to clean them often if you only use one flavor like I do?
Is it hard to get the "squonking" technique down? Since I'm a chain vaper..am I going to be squonking constantly...or how does that work?

And lastly (I think) any coupons I could use where I don't have to wait for a sale? And does Vapage do sales around Easter like some vendors?

Thanks in advance for any help, and if you have any tips or advice or whatever!

I own a VMOD XL and I'm really happy with it. You can easily get a day of eliquid and battery life which is also very good, since it takes 18650 battery. I'm sure you will like bottom feeder if you like the way dripping feels, regards to flavor. You can use any 510 atty or carto.

Avid Vaper has the attys you are looking for even tho the hybrids are also very good.

Not trying to dog on the vmod, but if you have to pay full price for one, for $20 more you could get a Reo Grande. Fully mechanical, no wires and much more durable than the plastic body of the Vmod XL. Like I said, not dogging on it, but I just looked at the Vapage site and $125 is a little much to pay for a plastic mod unless it's got a DNA in it or something. Now if you get it on sale...I've heard they do 50% off sales every now and then.

Also the 306 atties are great. You're referring to the Cisco spec atties, even better than a regular 306, so I've heared, never had one. Hard for me to pay $20 bucks for a disposable atty, but if they really last as long as folks say then they're worth it. I used $5 Bauway 306's when I first started dripping, before rba's, and they would last me about a month.

Bumping this in the hopes that some others might have some helpful tips or comments.

I'm not really ready for a REO at this point, since I'm not even sure a bottom feeder is going to be the right thing for me. The aluminum body of the VMOD doesn't bother me. I am not rough with my equipment and am home most of the time due to health issues. The VMOD seems to fit my budget and needs the best for a "first bottom feeder" model.

Hope there will be more feedback, however! Thanks!

Same thing here, bought the Boge revolution (twice) and they're waiting to donate some of their parts in case I need them. I didn't want to spend that money on a Reo, but I'm glad I did. Didn't buy any of them new, they last forever so keep an eye on the classifieds and snag one from there, if you don't like it chances are you can sell it and get your money back entirely, they really keep their value. You can use, atties, cartos and now RBA's too. The only thing you can spend on a Reo is a rebuilding kit which is $18 and that can happen every 2-3 years. Buy whatever your budget allows you, but at the end Reo's are the way to go in BF's

good luck !

While I agree the Reo is probably a fantastic mod, I just don't like the looks of it.

I'm waiting for a 50% off coupon from Vapage, then I'll try the VMod.

Sign up for their newsletter, they've been sending me discounts almost weekly. :)

OK. I'll takle that in order. -- the boge revolution doesn't get talked about much because it has been around for a while and it never really took off. Those that bought them gave them fairly generous reviews, and now or then I'd read a post about the battery or other occasional issue, but nothing that seemed to indicate they were a bad device. - I bought one. I didn't keep it for a very long time because of the tipping it upside down to squonk and the plastic construction, but while I had it, it performed as expected. It was a perfectly useful device... just not my thing.

OK - next: Cartos in the vmod. Any standard diameter carto should work. Next: 306 atttys. I prefer Cisco Spec 306's from avid vaper. I regularly use 1.8 ohm 306 on my reo mini and 2.5 ohm 306's on my VVW. They feed well, perform really well, and usually last at least a month and sometimes a lot longer. And, yes, I think the 306 on a bottom feeder is one of the easiest and most consistent ways to vape. Dripper mentality not required for use.

Cleaning the 306: I just toss them in some vodka for a couple of hours every few days. I just blow them out and put them back on my mods after their vodka bath. That's as easy as it gets for cleaning attys.

Squonking: Well, with a vmod (and the boge revolution) I found tipping the unit upside down to squonk was unusual and not very comfortable for me to do while driving etc. The upside down method can be mastered quickly, though. You'll figure it out the first day for sure.... Mentionable: The Vmod can be modified to blind squonk (which is what I prefer) and there is even a thread in this section with a tutorial with photos.

How Squonking Works: You won't squonk every drag, if that's what you are asking. If you've squonked the right amount of juice in to your atty, you'll have 5-10 drags before the next necessary squonk (lots of variables such as what juice, what watts, how long your drags are etc etc etc so ymmv for how many drags between squonks)

And: Sorry. Can't help with any info about when those guys might put stuff on sale.

Awesome job there Six, but I will add that I have found it easiest to tilt, squeeze the bottle, and vape all in the same motion when it needs to be fed. Fernand shared that little tidbit of info over in the big thread a while back, and I have vaped the XL, (several months now), like that since. Each time I feed mine it lasts usually from 5-8 vapes depending on how much I squeezed the bottle. You will find though, when the juice gets down to 1ml or less it can be finicky to say the least. I have found that if I pay better attention to it, I have less of a problem with it.

As to the atty's, well for me it is LR306 Low Resistance Atomizer 1.5 ohm (Cisco Spec) - Avid Vaper only. I have tried Joye, Bauway, IKV, MA's, and a few others and found the Cisco spec is the most consistent and lowest maintenance of all of them.

Here is the link for the modification from Commie that is here in the Liquid Feed posts.... http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...n/394178-converting-vmod-blind-squonking.html
I did something very close to this a while back using just a Luer-lok 18ga needle that was 1 1/2" long. It fit very snug in the neck of the bottle, (after trimming down the arrow tabs on the sides), ensuring no leakage but 18ga just wasn't big enough to handle the PG/VG ratio I used. It was ok for 100% PG though. If I could've gotten a 14 or 12ga needle it would have worked perfectly...

Im on the same page as OP here, plus 2 more questions.

- I really hate having to replace atties, so im looking for a way to mod the Vmod (if i end up getting one) to take a rebuildable atty. is there a tutorial for this?
- i saw on Vapage website they sell shells and cones only for the Vmod at $25. Can i just get that, stick in a battery, a bottle, and vape? Or is there something else required and i have to get the a la carte at least?

Well...you'd be lacking the button to make the battery connection that way. And there'd be no housing for said battery...so I think it'd just flop around in there?

Thanks for the replies...excepting the sales pitches for the REO which very likely is NOT in the cards for me right now. I really don't want to switch to an atomizer system. I don't think "tilt squonking" will be a big problem for me, and I'm more interested in using cartos with the VMOD than I am atties...but will at least give them a try if I do spring for the system. You are looking at a carto tank girl here...I want as little "fuss" vaping as possible. I don't mind an occasional squonk, but don't want to be counting puffs or messing with constant refilling. I am perfectly happy with cartos because I DIY and have adapted my juice recipe to be good in cartomizers. The current "mystery coupon" at Vapage has me severely tempted, even though it's coming at a really ROTTEN time of month for me! haha! Guess I ought to sleep on it some more.
