Thinking about an ego

OK, I'll reluctantly admit I fell for Green Smoke. Actually, besides the incredible expense of the system it has worked pretty well. I haven't had an analogue for three weeks and I have never been able to go for more than a week without an analogue in the forty years I've been smoking. So anyway pretty damn happy.

I bought extra D2 batteries and some prefilled carts from LeCig. Mike runs a great business. Got a PT for my computer time and have been refilling the carts for the last couple of weeks. I feel though that I am still missing something here and would like to "spread out" a little.

Of all the different models I've looked at the Joye Ego seems to be the one I'd like to try next. The thing that is hanging me up is I would like to maximize battery, cart size, and length of vapping time. I just can't wrap my head around the battery/charger conundrum. I keep reading about Mega carts and that they should/could be used with a stronger battery, but a special charger might be needed and if I'm not careful I could be blowing out certain batteries. I can't figure out what atty's are the best for what I am trying to do. After reading this post, you may not believe this but I'm a fairly intelligent guy and for the life of me I can't unravel this. I have filled out about a half a dozen shopping carts, got cold feet and backed out so I really need some help on this. Is there anyone in the group that has an Ego and a set up something like what I have lamely described that can help?

For 40 some days I have been vaping on an Ego with a mega atty. It is kinda fussy. I woke up one morning and the 2ml I put in it was in a puddle on the desk. I just filled it up and put it on the bat. I store my ego standing up on the bat. From then on I pull the cart out but not off, for the night. I think this stopped it from leaking. I have the 900 ego bats from janty and other than that leak and some wicking problems, I am pleased. It lasts me through my 8 to 10 hr work day without fussing with it. I lowered my nic when I got the mega atty because it really went throug the juice.

For maximum battery life go the the eGo Xl batteries they last the longest. Xl atomizers and carts ca be tricky but there are some users in here that know how to tweak them to make them work better. Really dont have to worry about the battery charger to much the eGo charging cord is different then any other one i have seen, but yes if you plug a regular 510 battery in it it will take it out. If you plug eGo battery in a 510 charger it wont hurt it , just going to take a long time to charge. hope this helps you out a bit

If you decide on an Ego, spend a few bucks more and get a genuine Janty Ego instead of a knock-off. They may look the same, but whether it performs is a crap shoot.

The mega battery lasts a LONG time and produces massive amounts of vapor. Get the new MegaAttomizer and matching Cart and you're a fog machine.

I'd also like to point out that you might also include the Riva in this. It has the same look as the eGo, and many prefer (including me) prefer the button on the Riva to the ego. The standard Riva has a slightly higher mAh (750 to the 650 of the eGo), but I think that only amounts to about an extra hour. I myself have not tried any of the 'mega' stuff as people seem to have limited success with them. I guess it's in what you get used to, but while not perfect, I have not found refilling my cartridges and cartomizers to be that much of a hassle and it takes mere seconds to do....not a whole lot longer than fishing a cigarette out of the pack and flicking the lighter.

I'm not sure that my mind is made up now due to mi528hz's problems with his set up, SimpleSins' suggestion of a Riva (am researching that now) and the fact that Janty is sold out (could this be fate?). Also Java_Az's observation that the set up I have in mind may be trick (I have no desire to complicate vapping). However Parallex2's observation that I too cold become a fog machine still holds a certain fascination for me. As the GS I am presently using at least works with some reliability, I do have time to continue researching this technology further. Again you all have my gratitude for your prompt responses.

I have the ego, it is a class act but the button does suck. Really all your buying is the battery so going with the hello16 or Riva would be the same as you could still use the 510 atties and cartos on them. The ego is great but I do have to wonder what they were thinking of with the cheap button design.

I have heard about the button complaint and you have confirmed it once again...thank you. I think this is getting closer to my ill formed initial post. Would I not be able to get the parts separately to "construct" what I am trying to accomplish? In other words a Riva battery, XL atty and cart, Riva charger, and a 510 PT and PCC? Is a kit necessary or for that matter advisable?

janty has stock issues, last week while i was debating what to buy, i was torn between the riva, and the ego, ego's are sold out all the time everywhere i go, the riva on the other hand is cheaper, and easier to get, i love my riva, no issues with it so far, and actualy got about 16 hours of fairly heavy vaping out of 1 charge. i dont use carts, so i dont know about the leaking, i have a drip tip. also on the button issue, it was a concern for me cause i cary my riva in my pocket at work, the rubber nub the riva uses as a button seems pretty sturdy and its clicky, havent had an issue with it giong off in my pockets or anything like that

I bought the eGo kit from Cignot.com and the batteries don't need charging every day. Cignot has mega carts and atomizers as accessories if you want them, and there's no mention of needing a different charger.

Yes you could. You might need a adapter for the hello16 battery. They are inexpensive and allows further expansion if curious. I was also considering a 905 screwdriver battery compartment or going with a mod. I got a great buy on my ego kit it included 2 of every thing in the kit for $59 so I got 2 egos! Don't let the button alone scare you but honestly i think the other PV's do the same as the ego too. It's all about the battery.

I REALLY like using the cone so the Hello 016 doesn't seem like a good choice. That and I have a zillion 510 attys I can use on the eGo, T-Rex, Riva batts with the cone.
I still use my 510's with cartos because of the variety of flavors I enjoy vaping from time to time AND the eGo is my favorite for my favorite flavor. Such a smooth, warm, easy vape as well as the 8-9 hours of batt life on the xl's. In fact, I am determined to vape on one of my eGo xl's until it flashes and I started with it at 11am this morning...still going strong.
It seems to me that if you buy from a supplier that has a good warranty, the brand doesn't matter as much as if you are just shopping for price.
I have both the regular usb charger and the super usb charger...depends on whether you want to charge for 2-3 hours or 1 to 1 1/2 hours. I even have a batt extender so I can charge in my 510 charger...yawn...I don't even want to wait THAT long.

With the Riva and/or eGo, there is no PCC, nor is it really necessary. Depending on how much you vape, you're going to get at an absolute minimum six hours out of them (new even longer). Other than that, though, yes you could easily do that. Although, because it's your money, if you get a pass through, I would recommend getting the adapter to allow you to plug it into an electric outlet. Just an opinion, I don't know if I'd worry a whole lot about getting the mega-attie. I don't know that you'd notice much of a difference, and I'm not sure they're worth the extra money.

The biggest upside to a kit is that it simplifies things. As you may have noticed, these things come in different colors, so you're guaranteed that everything is going to match. In addition, if you like the cone (it tends to warm the vapor and tighten the draw a little bit), you get that in a kit, too. Then there's the chargers, which come in the kit, usually a fast USB charger and a the electric outlet one that you plug the USB into.

I hope we haven't confused you too much. It's great that you're willing to take your time and make a careful decision rather than letting zeal tempt you into something that may not be what you want.

You guys have been great! After spending all of last evening on the web (and in an effort to not paralyze myself with analysis) it looks as though the Riva and Ego are equally viable for what I'm trying to pull off.My only question left is what company have you found to be the "best" source for either PV? By best I mean consistently stocked, most accessories, most complete kits, fastest shipping, etc. Cheaper isn't necessarily an issue (after all I bought a GS to start so obviously I'm a fool with deep pockets).

Got the ego bigger battery(900) and 510 maga atty and they seem to work ok together. Really like the maga atty, it's just a little longer than the normal atty, but seems to hold a lot more juice. Works good with a passthru. The maga ego atty is good too, but will leak if you leave on the battery and set the battery on it's flat end.

I love my ego with mega atomizer and cartridge (I do a straw mod for the cartridge and it works even better - can't post links but it's on the forum for how to modify). Buy from Cignot - great service, helpful, and price is reasonable. Usually have within 3 days.
