I have been using the Ego for a week now and I really like it. After reading here I think that the Riva/Ego are pretty much the same unit but the Riva is about $20 less for the kit, with cheaper batteries. Are they interchangable? I like the mega carts, can they also be used on the Riva? I am also thinking about a drip tip for when I am at home, what are the benefits? Thanks to all in advance!

Congrats on the new eGo.

All parts are interchangeable between the eGo and the Riva 510. (They have recently come out with a Riva that is threaded to take 901 atomizers but that does not affect the battery connection.)

I have both the eGo and the Riva and think they are both fantastic, but I definitely prefer my Riva. To me, they are two very different products.

The Riva provides a much harsher vapor (in a good way) and a stronger throat hit, it knocked my socks off the first time I hit it. Either the battery provides more power to the atty or the slightly tighter fit of the cone warms the air better. I don't know.

The eGo has, in my opinion, a much better build quality. After two months of use, my Riva looks like I've been using it for a year. My two eGos look brand new. That problem could just be due the to way the gold titanium finish my Riva has was applied, I had the same problem with titanium finish peeling off one of my Joye 510s.

I may have gotten a bad finish on mine, I have never seen a similar complaint from anyone on this forum as to the way the Riva wears.

Also, the cone threading on the eGo is much smoother than that of the Riva.

For me, the most important part of rating a PV is the quality of the vape I get when using it. Hands down, the Riva wins out.

I highly recommend getting a Riva to try. You'll love it as much if not more than the eGo.

As to drip tips, I still have not tried them.

My daughter has the Riva and I, the eGo. I really like them both and can't tell the difference as far as performance goes, vapor and th. However, with the Riva, it seems as if it leaks around the atty/batt connection at times and I haven't had that problem with the eGo. Using the cone on the eGo is also much easier as far as putting on and taking off, tho I don't have to do that too often. The Riva has a nicer button, I'm not as concerned that it's going to get stuck. Pros and cons for both so if I were to buy another one and the Riva was still $20.00 less...I'd purchase a Riva simply to save money.

Yes, all parts are interchangeable, they even use the exact same charger.

Eastmall did recently start selling the Riva 901, which is threaded for a 901 atomizer, but the regular Riva is fully compatible with everything on the eGo and, like the eGo, is threaded for the 510 atomizer.

Minor bit of advice, even though the picture of the titanium Riva makes it look like it is silver, it is gold.

Hey guys - I'd rather bump a old post with a question on topic than start another one and clutter the site :)

So I have a RIVA now but one of my batteries is about gone. Charges full and if I use it straight off the charger its ok. But if I let it sit for 16-24 hours its dead after 1 draw :(

So I'm looking at an eGo battery now and thinking about the new one that you can turn off just to make sure it can't drain its self when not in use. For confirmation is the cone off the RIVA compatible with the eGo? I already have a ton of LR Attys I know I can re-use with the eGo batt and my cartridges but the cone has me confused.

So will the RIVA cone work on the eGo?

Not really answering your question, but -- are you sure the battery's draining itself because of the button? How old is the Riva? Batteries wear out and go bad, often indicated by an inability to hold a charge. For most of these batteries, 500-600 charge cycles is about all you're going to get. That means if you put the battery on the charger once a day, you'll should get just under 2 years of use from the battery. Charge more often (2-3 times a day) and your battery wears out faster. If your Riva is 6 months old and has seen heavy use, it may just be its time. If you had an eGo instead it would suffer the same fate.

"On" or "off", a battery's still going to drain. The new eGo-T button lock is intended to prevent accidental misfires, not prolong the life of the battery. If you were happy with your Riva there's no reason not to get another one.

I've had them both about 4 months maybe a hair longer. But it seems that one is pretty shot where the other isn't. And I always run one dead and fully charge it and swap to the other so I'm not abusing just one over and over so I figure it's best to get another battery. I figured with that new ego with the power off option it's worth the try and it's supposed to hold 1000mha which is a step up from the riva... Just trying to find out if I'll have to buy a new cone too for a ego batt before I start a order to get it in the same shipping cost :)

My understanding is that the Riva runs around 3.7v but the eGo runs about 3.2v, it could make that much of a difference to you - as it does for some. If you like the strong hit from the Riva you may eventually look into getting a high voltage mod one day. :) ... you may also like the LR atomizer too as it will mimic a higher voltage on your Riva or eGo batts.
