I think you are definitely after a mechanical mod with higher voltage options. The Precise line is one, and as mentioned, the GG line is another.
Sorrid, for reference, the GG line is indeed a very simple all-mechanical mod.
I haven't used a P18, but I have seen, and taken a couple hits on, an older SuperT mod that I don't believe is in production anymore. It definitely feels like quality. The P18 really isn't that big, as mods go. But if it seems big to you, the P16 is also an option. With a Low Resistance atomizer, you can achieve higher power.
The GG's you may want to look at are the GGTS, and the GGTB. The GGTS can take pretty much any battery due to the telescopic sleeve, has a 4-in-1 connector (which I think may be an extra, not sure if it comes with the kit - anyone know?), and you can also buy an AVS juice feeder.
The GGTB is a simpler, and smaller mod. It has a "telescopic" battery dummy that can be adjusted for different batteries, giving it some flexibility without changing the size of the mod itself. It comes with a 901 connector.
Both companies have great reputations, and it's hard to find anyone in either of their subforums who is having an issue with their mod breaking down.
I have also been looking for a mechanical mod. I wound up landing on the GGTB with a 510 adapter because, for me, price is an issue. And also, it just seems more flexible than the SuperT line, while not being as big or over the top as the GGTS. I don't need or want a ton of extra features, and a $75 price point on an all-mechanical mod with a good reputation sold me. I also like that the button locks.
For reference, the GGTB can operate at 3.7v, 6v, and 7.4v. For the latter two, you would almost certainly want a High Resistance atomizer.
Atomizers take a little getting used to, but you will likely get more vapor. I did also discover that, with a regular atty, I get less throat hit (that's just me - not everyone agrees with me on that, but it doesn't seem like you mind throat hit much).
So I use an LR atty for my throat hit, and I'm good. If only VaporKings would come back in stock!
*impatiently taps toe*
