It's my understanding that kanthal is no longer top dog anymore. I know people use it to make claptons but I'm just trying to wrap simple coils. I have 24g kanthal right now which is alright and I use ni200 for my tc builds but idk what to upgrade for regular mode. I'm thinking I'm gonna get some 26g n80. But people are talking about using stainless steel for coils. Is that even better than kanthal and Nichrome?

I am still experimenting with kanthal, I just made a order for some 32g and 22g, which is an upgrade from 26g. I'm going to see how i do with different builds. I had purchased 26 to try to shoot down the middle but that didn't work, I'm happy with it, but I am finding out you actually need different strands for an actual range of ohms.

Pop over to Temco and do a little shopping. You can pick up a variety of wire for cheap (and it's all US made wire)

The problem with these types of questions is that what works great for me may not suit your style of vaping.

I've experimented with quite a few variations and I ended up deciding that N80 (Nichrome 80) is my "go to" wire of choice. I vape exclusively on mechs and for me, single coils are wrapped using 22 ga N80 or parallel 24 N80 and my dual coils are dual parallel 26 N80
