I was wondering, these sites that make juices, since they are not requlated, the whole industry if self policed, do you think they are taking basic standard cleaning measures? Even the reputable ones? This question really scares me....yesterday I had some really bad chest aches and I kept asking these questions... I am really considering quitting although I do not want to, what do you think?

That's your answer right there. Make your own. Not only will you know what's in it, but you can tailor the % of PG/VG and flavor to your needs. Oh ya, and it'll cost you about $3.00 per 30ml. The three best moves I've made in the 2 1/2 years of vaping are ...
1) Buying a Provari
2) Moving to Cartomizers in Tanks and
3) Making my own juice.

Yes, making your own would be nice if we could get 'clean' ingredients in Canada.

I quit vaping 2 months ago after a year+ of nothing but rashes, pimples, rough facial skin, the list is endless. I was in New York several montha ago and the juice was clearly 'clean'. So now I have USA juice only (what a difference) and am back on the eGo and off analogs which have been filling the void for about 2-3 months. Canadian juices are poison as far as I'm concerned. Oh and they don't bother the cat a bit!

Hope things work out for you.

Multiple vendors, such as vapor4life (v4l) resell China-sourced eliquids. I've heard they are produced in bulk, factory, clean, settings.

In the US, I would have no concern with eliquids produced by any of the well-known artisan vendors, places like Backwoods Brew and Kickbass Vapor. They've been around long enough, have built up solid, consistent, reputations for quality eliquids. Whether you like a particular eliquid is a matter of personal taste, but I wouldn't fear bad standards relative to cleanliness or mixing.

Tightness could be over-vaping, or a sensitivity, whether to PG, VG, or a particular flavoring. Some people have to go to 0 PG, all organic flavorings. Others actually have the opposite, need 0 VG, do well with classic Dekang Chinese eliquids.

Concerning DIY, look here: DIY E-Liquid

Multiple forum areas have DIY recipes threads or subforums, to get examples. For instance, http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/pay-forward-pif/110029-diy-recipes.html

Thank you markfm that really made me feel better, as for DIY juice, it is not for me, I have three kids and I can not bring these ingredients to home.

I quit about 3 years ago. I couldn't stop panicking wondering when China was going to ship some nicotine in a container that was once used for some other poison. As far as I know everyone was Chinese nicotine back then. I also think PG/PEG may have had something to do with it

I'm getting ready to give it a try again because I see JC is claiming to use 100% US ingredients and I'm going to try their 100% VG blends.
I don't worry about American companies with American ingredients, they don't want to lose customers and too small to not care. China on the other hand doesn't have a good track record in avoiding poisoning Americans even when they're customers.

I stick to vendors that I know I can trust - Highbrow, Alien Visions are my current regular vendors. I also trust Vapor Station, KBV, Vaperite, Backwoods Brew, Halo. I'm sure I'm leaving out a few, but all of these are top-notch.

When I hear things mentioned like chest aches, pimples and rashes, I immediately think of PG. PG gives me painful acne, so I stick to all-VG, or just as little PG as possible. Could it be that the Canadian juices you tried happenned to have PG and the ones from U.S.A. have less?

Chest pains are NOT from juice that is contaminated. It's from vaping too much with too high a nic or you could have another serious health issue. I suggest seeing your doctor.

As for unsafe juice? I vape mostly Dekang from China. Never had anything bad happen to me and never got a bad batch. As for USA vendors, most get their nic out of China so don't always believe that it's USA made. Some vendors will get it out of South Carolina but not all do. My favorite unflavored is from myfreedomsmokes.com. Chris orders it from China and always has it tested. As for flavorings? Good luck figuring out where they are from..I know Italy is flavourart but don't know where the others get theirs.

Like I said, please see your doctor. I doubt your problems are vaping related.

Also, the only issue I've ever seen when it came to unflavored was BE. He was selling nic that was way off in mg that people were buying because he was cheap. Thankfully, no one wound up physically injured from it. He's no longer a supplier on ECF. He only sold unflavored for DIY'ing and not flavored/pre-mixed.

Here's my 2 cents:

Never had a quality problem with DeKang from China. Some of the flavors were not my favorite, like menthol, but that's a personal taste thing. Quality-wise it's all been good.

US suppliers for the most part seem to have tight controls on quality. I've hit a few dogs along the way but by and large had great luck with them. Over time, we all narrow the field to a handful of favorite suppliers that have good quality and great customer service. So it's just a matter of finding your happy spot.

When it comes to having a bad reaction I'd have to think it's a PG/VG thing. I know some heavy smokers who struggle with ecigs for one reason or another and found out some tinkering goes a long way. Here's a few ideas . . .

Say you like watermelon flavor. Order a small bottle of all PG watermelon and another all VG from a good supplier. Then test each separately in your favorite carto or tank. You'll instantly be able to tell a big difference between the two. Of course, the all PG will be runny like water and the all VG will be thick like glue, but the true test is in the vaping.

My guess is you'll find out real quick which one works best for you.

But don't stop there. Take it to the next level and mix the two bottles to know for sure. Try a 50/50 mix for starters and see how it goes. You'll need a 3rd bottle for the mixing. Just take your concoction from the 3rd bottle and give it a try. I'd have to think following these steps will tell you a great deal.

Good luck.
