We have the sun up in Central NY. Got the water fully connected, chlorine shocked the system, UV filter running, at camp. Had a couple leaks from pre-existing plumbing to fix, now I'm down to a couple really slow drip connections in the new pump box -- plenty good enough for now.
Time for new utility shed doors today, rip out the old monster doors, then build a new pair of much more manageable horizontal opening ones. A few yellow jacket nests need to go bye-bye -- I'm friendly to wood bees, but to heck with wasp nests near where I'm working with power tools (gets 'em riled up); a few shots of Spectracide Pro should take care of that.
If I can get the doors done, this weekend is replacing a smallish section of exterior wall in the add-on living room. About 8x12 on the nose, 3 sheets of sheathing, 3 sheets of siding, cutouts for two windows. Hoping the windows are salvageable, I'll see when I pop off the interior wall (gotta add some extra studs anyhow, to make my life simpler, might as well do that from inside).
After that the monster job, a new deck at camp, plus continued rebuild of the old bunkhouse 24x24 building (original camp at the site). I'd like to get the bunkhouse to the point where there are new rafters holding up the metal roof (two of them are really in terrible shape, one from rot, one not actually having a support at one exterior wall -- it terminates above the door opening,
zero support), so it's safe to go topside and recoat it; if not, the roof stays tarped another season.
Electrical in the bunkhouse is fine, since I dropped in the new 40 amp subpanel. The main trailer/house needs some rework, stuff just done wrong, but I'm plugging away at the things that are more worrisome to me. (Adding GFI in the ba
throom and kitchen, gradually properly setting up the ground system -- grounds were often cut off/not connected at the 3 prong outlets, couple of neutral/hot reversals in outlets.)
Wifie's "oh, didn't know there was so much to be done". It's a shrug to me, the property is at a beautiful location, was a reasonable price IMO, I knew it was an as-is
buy, prior owner didn't know how to do happy-homeowner work.
I'll use a Lowes $10 off $50 coupon today, at HD, used a 10% off for the tractor.
No rest for the wicked
