We have a little water starting to seep into the basement in one of the offending corners, but not enough to worry about yet. By morning we will tho.
Moon, glad to hear you and mod are having beautiful weather. I won't complain too much, we had some gorgeous days and cool evenings last week leading up to this storm.

Water is coming in the basement at a steady rate now. I try to choose my battles carefully with Katie, and this one is where I draw the line. Going down to muck the water every hour is not needed. I opened the sewer plug, told her on her watch she can do as she chooses, but on my watch the plug is staying loose so that the water drains on it's own!
There is a low spot in the yard about 100ft away from the house that ponds when we get lots of rain. She wanted me to go out in the rain and dig a ditch across the gravel part of the driveway so it would drain the water over into the neighbor's yard

Seems I may have been a little premature in bidding good-bye to Andrea....It's been raining all night....Over 6 inches reported officially...I believe it's more...
Dad always waited for the basement to flood and drained it through a water hose...After he died I cut the floor and installed a drain...A basin outside the door drains a low spot...The cover got clogged today...I got the cover off and there was some major gurgling going on for a few minutes there...The basement floor still gets wet but it drains to the creek on its own...No accumulation...Seems we all have the leaky basement in common...
Bov if ya'll get rain like we got rain....ditch digging will do little good anyways...

I may shoot her before this night is over! She put the drain plug back in...grrrr!! The ditch was pointless in the first place Dee. That yard pond is not what is causing the basement to flood, it's the idiotic way the driveway and sidewalk up to the back steps were paved. Yep you guessed it...she had it done by one of those guys who comes along and knocks on your door saying they have "left over" asphalt from another job.
Kids are on the road for home, barring any traffic jams they should arrive tonight around 10. I've wished them safe travels and of course I had a little chat with the big man upstairs.
Rain broke here this am but overcast. I believe a high of 81 today. Second ban of rain scheduled for Mon and Tues I believe. Ugh!

Now they're all gonna want to move down South Tracy !!! Myrtle Beach is an awesome vacation spot...I especially enjoy the House of Blues myself...The no helmet law is pretty dang alright as well...
Ask Joc if she saw "Pedro"...Anyone traveling I-95 is gonna know about Pedro...He's the mascot of South of the Border...located in SC just over the border with NC....Her route IDK but most travelers heading too Myrtle hit Hwy9 and drive thru the center of South of the Border...Pretty awesome at night with all the neon...
We have many sayings down South.....like this......Say what you will about the South but no one retires and moves up North...truth.......

hahaha You aren't kidding ElDee! (retiring North, nope!) They are travelling I-95, but just stopped at Pizza Hut!!! Says she knows Pedro!!! haha I can't wait to hear of her adventures.

Ditto on the prayers Tracy! Partly sunny here and like a sauna. I just got home from the grocery and turned my ac on in the bedroom.
Last night was a battle of anger management for me vs. the basement vs. Katie! The basement still has water coming in, and with only a day or so before more rain we'll likely be pushing water most of the week. About 2:30am she comes into my room and announces that I have the rest of the night shift so she could get some sleep...I had just taken my dose of "night-night pills" hahaa!! By 5am I was face down on my keyboard, but the basement was taken care of
Also heard last night that another dear friend has lost his Mom...I think that is one of the hardest losses. RIP Mrs. Doran, I'm sure there is a piece of Ireland in Heaven for you.

My basement's floor stays dry for the most part but it's seeping in the wall. I need to wire brush it, scrub with bleach and reseal it with dryloc. There is what my ex hubs (the mason) calls effervesence? Anyways, it's just yet another PITA of home ownership to deal with. Plthhhhhh!!

Well that's good! I am one of those people who LOVES sleep, and can do so anywhere and at anytime. I can curl up in the afternoon and nap for an hour and still be ready for bed at the usual time.
I will NOT be a happy camper if I can't sleep when older, like my Mom says will happen.

I love sleep too but for some reason it has become a battle. Except in the morning. As soon as the sun comes up I can sleep like a baby. Maybe I'm a werewolf or something Ha.
