I went to Best buy today just to look and I can say that the 10.1 is not doable with my eyes. Thank you for those links Mark.

I think the 13 to 14" is the smallest I can comfortably handle, and if I'm considering buying, I need to make sure I get something that I am comfortable using. I'm keeping my eyes on Newegg for refurbished...I don't trust buying used or refurb from ebay or craigs list.

LOL John! I could set up one of those big jeweler's magnifier and put a 10" under it huh? ;)

Just a side note that yall might want to know...our Fran got banned :( Her new permanent home is at nuvaper with most of the rest of the folks who have disappeared from here.

Makes it a bit more of a challenge, but fun to poke at :) I'm seeing asus, Acer & Lenovo full laptops with 15.6" screens in the $320 - $370 zone new, seeing some refurb 14" units in the $240 range. Shorter run time on battery, but easier on the eyes. (netbooks top out at about 12")

Sorry to hear about Fran, sometimes things just plain get strange.

Screen contributes a little, much of the power use is cpu. Dual core Intel cpu, even their latest more energy efficient ones, use a decent number of Watts. Thing is, ghz and cores = more capable, better for video watching or if you want to do some Photoshop type stuff (I've used paint.net Free sw for years, happy with it.)
