There are some good LED bulbs out there now, though it can take time to filter through what's around. I've got 50W equivalent dimmable and 35W equivalent in GU10 fixtures in our kitchen and great room, 75W equivalent floods lighting the ceiling, 40W equivalent candelabra, and a 75W+ equivalent standard format that'll go in a recessed can fixture at camp. I also have a couple of fairly low power moderate floods at camp, lighting the porch and stairs to the deck. The BR30 floods in the great room were pretty nasty price (about $20 each), the others were all $7 - $10. I've lucked out (research paid off) in that for the interior lights I've only had one "mehh" (too cold a color temperature -- for home interior warm white is where it's at), but that one bulb is fine in a storage area where a cold white works.
(I've been a CFL user for years, but new LED are pretty sweet -- instant on, including in cold weather, better warmth, better light output. For things like the kitchen, where I got used to cruddy failure rates with CFL, I'm expecting good things -- LED bulbs are supposed to be better in handling on/off cycling.)
